i have to say that you were here when democratic senator bob casey was here speaking with us, and hetical with the administration on how they are doing. you have room for agreement there. >> i do agree with what that the democratic senator said. senator casey is correct about the lack of strategic vision. this administration doesn't have one. i suggested the other day that instead of asking himself, what would carter do? what mr. obama really aught to do is ask himself, what would ronald reagan do? it is impossible, i think, at this point to see carter' vision. his vision was to end the evil empire. so everything he did to include right from the very beginning when moammar gadhafi threatened the line of death, he didn't get up to say that's a red line in the sand. he told the u.s. navy you will cross the gulf and if they do, shoot them down. they did. no big speeches. there will be consequences. all this bluster from the administration has destroyed one of the crucial elements of diplomacy. and this administration has no credibility on either of the visible issues you can see today,

. >> guest: in terms of it being her war in the united states the president and including bob casey the defense secretary and joe biden were reluctant to get involved in libya. they didn't want to spend blood and treasure and didn't want to get involved in afghanistan and iraq. at the time some of them knew that there was a plan to go after bin laden and a strike potential in a sovereign nation. internationally the europeans wanted a no-fly zone. the americans thought that was ineffectual. you have to get the gold corporate in counsel and in the arab league which have different politics within them. you had to get them bought in. they bought into the no-fly zone and they got turned around into an actual strike rather than a fly zone to take out gadhafi. all of that was done on the ground in various capitals by hillary clinton and basically she came back to president of bob and said look the coalition is here for this if you are willing to deal with it. >> guest: she put together this coalition so she had her stamp on it. >> host: lafayette indiana, republican caller. >> caller: good mor

joining me is gates turner who is a guest of bob casey. tiana, how are you?u. tell me, how did you end up as a guest on the state of the union? >> well, bob casey reached out to me and asked if i would like to go as his guest to the state of the union. i said yes. it was a great honor to see the speech up close and personal. >> for you, we've been talking about -- what were the moments that for you were the take homes from the state of the union? >> the one thing that stuck with me that really stuck with me was the speech dealing with humanity and the values in which many americans have been brought up on. the other thing that stuck was the thing how all women need equal wage. and something that definitely needs to be talked about. of course my passion in stopping hunger is something that is important to me. >> you've talked about about the cuts in the s.n.a.p. program. you worked as a witness to hunger. you hoped you would get an invitation to address congress as they were considering these s.n.a.p. benefit reductions. so talk to me about what it meant for y

senator bob casey reaching to federal officials to fight a drug problem. he sent a letter to the dea asking for support to bring those responsible for selling heroin in pittsburg. there's a surge in heroin overdoses in pittsburg. >> authorities in pittsburg are calling it an epidemic. heroin laced with a powerful pain-killer has been sold on the streets. the high can be deadly. it comes in different names. last week four people within 24 hours died after overdosing. and from there the death tall continued to climb. saturday when i had four and sunday when i had three, i knew that i was hitting some major part of an overdose crisis. >> health officials issued an alert. by monday 20 deaths were reported. >> we are find that it it contains a synthetic open identified called fenn tan ol, it's seven to 100 times stronger than morphine. >> this doctor heads a rehab facility. if warned of the dangers some drug abusers take the chance. >> if people die of something commonsense should tell you to stay way way. because of the nature of addiction, people believe that

host: here is what senators to me and bob casey want to say.ost: why would these two senators put out that statement? guest: certainly the senators have some interest at home. they represent in districts that would benefit from this. but congress members say they are trying to -- they are trying to be fiscally responsible, saying that it would cost us more if we shut this down. so certainly some groups have accused these members of congress of trying to protect jobs in their districts and just worrying about bringing home the bacon to their districts. but a lot of these members of congress say, sure, i may benefit from the jobs that we have, but it would've -- it would affect the country. host: how are they being upgraded? guest: technology has gotten better. they can do a lot in terms of the sort of capability within the tank, where they can see what is ahead, they have a lot more battlefield awareness is what they call it in terms of the technology that you would expect in a vehicle now versus in the 1980's. cuts ine military faces their over
