"today in the bay's" bob redell is live at the home near leigh avenue. you had a chance to talk to the injured woman's husband. what's he telling you? >> reporter: he is clearly shaken up and understandably. he tells us his wife is still in intensive care after this car slammed into the house where she was inside yesterday. he is under the impression she is going to survive her injuries. this happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. according to one witness we spoke to, he saw a silver and red bmw, two cars racing down leigh avenue. teenage drivers in both cars. he said one lost control. they banged into each other. the red bmw crashed across the street on the side of the road. the silver bmw went into the house with three teenagers inside when neighbors came out to pull people out. the three teen anyoagers were t to the hospital. her 9-year-old daughter found under a wall and some cabinets remarkably was pulled out, okay, no serious injuries to speak of. as i mentioned, the wife is still in the hospital in

garcia-cannon. a destructive house fire in fremont. bob redell is live at the scene with the very latest.half ago this house in fremont caught fire. fremont fire department not sure what caused it. you can see the fire went to two alarms, destroyed this home. there were seven people asleep at the time, two adults, five children. they all got out okay. but it was by dumb luck. a neighbor across the street happened to be out front of his home getting ready to go to work. when he saw the flames on the left side of the house, he went over, started knocking on the door. he knows he woke them up because when theta out they was groggy, disoriented. he pointed out, if he hadn't been there, it's quite possible they might have been trapped inside. when he got them out, the house went up in flames very quigley. he was amazed how quickly it went out. all the people are okay, one family dog unaccounted for. fremont fire, no injuries at all. reporting live, i'm bob redell. laura, back to you. >> another update in half an hour. hope to see you then. ♪ ♪ if loving you is wrong ♪ i don't wanna be right [

garcia-cannon. >>> a sombre start for a central valley community as neighbors an friends mourn the death of an eight-year-old girl. this morning, detectives are still on the hunt for her killer. bob redell is live outside the california highway patrol helping with this investigation. bob, what's the latest? >>> good morning to you, marla. chp has joined the state's department of justice and the calaberas county sheriff's office in the search for the murder of 8-year-old lela fouler. this is an area 32 miles east of stockton. this happened on saturday at noon. her 12-year-old brother tells authorities he encountered an intruder in his home around that time. after that man escaped, the brother found his younger sister stabbed to death. the sheriff's office has not yet named a suspect. they have recovered fingerprints and dna from the crime scene. they have been interviewing people, including a neighbor who saw a man running away from the home around the time of the stabbing. spring valley is a small community of about 2500 people located in the foothills of sierra nevada. it is very rural and sometimes can be very remote, which is one reason why law enforcement is asking people who
