national captioning institute] [captions copyright national cable satellite corp. 2014] >> tomorrow, bob goodlatte talks about some of the issues before his committee, including immigration and border security. he also talks about the recent vote by lawmakers to allow the arming and training of syrian rebels in their fight against isis. and president obama's authority for using military action than forward. >> one of the issues you know the congress has been addressing for about a year now, since i started raising it last year, not too long after i became chairman of the committee, is the president's duty to faithfully execute the law, and the concern that there are literally dozens of areas where we believe the president has taken that can and phone and done things the law does not allow him to do. one of the areas is deferred action. i believe the program should be terminated, and i have so voted in the legislative package that we passed prior to the august recess. but it also has been on thathort list of issues the congress, the house, has looked at closely in terms of bringing a lawsuit agains

the judiciary committee led by bob goodlatte. it is with great energy, and i'm talking about sincere energy, putting behind the legislation and not something that we move to the conference with the senate and the white house would like to work their will. but to actually move forward in an incremental fashion achieving real border security in the nonsense of rhetoric that you can't secure the border because we know that you can, there are examples all over the world of successfully doing so. is that possible in your view? >> i think so. and republicans are going to reach a compromise with democrats to get those out of the house. and all the way up to the summer we saw that and so i think that he won to say, let's get this done. but he can't. >> you can't really get it done because right now in his conference he has, as we will see over the coming weeks, that there is absolute outrage at the insistence that this will be shut down and shut down the throats of the american people and the congress. so this would rebel and sterling. >

congressman bob goodlatte is the chairman of the house judiciary committee. it's good to see you back in business and good to have you with us here on the broadcast. >> good to be with you, lou, and your viewers. >> let's start with the president deciding to delay action on his fiat. he was, at least earlier, go to, he promised, give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, but now not until after the election. your reaction to his decision? >> well, lou, it's never a good idea to trample on the constitution and take unilateral amnesty that he has no law to do. he should say he's going to work with the congress on real immigration reform that starts with the kind of enforcement both at the border and the interior of the country that the people want. if he's not going to do that, at the very least he should tell us now what he plans to do after the election so the american people will know that going into this election. >> speaker john boehner seems to want to work with him and said that perhaps we could see immigration reform legislation. this is a presiden
