got a problem, not just kerry but the president of the united states, not just from republicans but in the senate, you've got the chairman of the foreign relations committee, bob you've got chuck schumer, the number three democrat in the senate from new york, they're skeptical of this deal. >> they are. the big question is whether they give him the six months are upping room to test as secretary kerry said, whether in fact, iran is serious about reaching a long-term agreement. there's no question i think that the congress wants to at least set in motion sanctions that will be toughened if the deal isn't reached. the bigger question is whether they actually threaten to undermine his position by imposing further sanctions during this window. my guess is he can fight this off and get this running room to see whether this is serious over the next six months. beyond that, i think if this doesn't work, there's a very clear signal to iran there will be tougher sanctions coming down the road. >> maybe it will work. we'll see. thanks very much, rob brownstein for that. >>> a new federal push to help the mentally ill as we approach the anniversary of sandy hook. our own

state john kerry cut to ease some sanctions against iran in exchange for them giving up their nuclear program, basically, and i just got off the phone with a democrat, close to president, bobhairman of the senate foreign relations committee, he tell mets this shows the true intentions of iran. they want to move toward building nuclear weapons. that's the opposite of the spirit of the talks, diplomatic talks. he is warning that this could be a big problem. that squares with what republican, mark kirk, cosponsor of a bill that would have tough new sanctionses against iran, is saying today. kirk telling fox earlier today, quote, the american people are rightfully distrustful of iran's true nuclear intention and today's news demonstrates why congress needs to pass a nuclear weapon free iran act to protect of protect us from iranian detection. if we want a world without iranian nuclear weapons we need to send the message bad faith will be met with tough sanctions. what they're saying is they have legislation that now has 47 cosponsors, in both parties, who basically want to give diplomacy a chance here but in case iran does pull out of these talks, and that they're showing sign
