to us and i feel we have seen that already in new jersey with the election of chris kristen and bob macdonald. host could you talk about the tea party groups in your book "right now." are they the future of the republican party? >> guest: they are the republican party. to the extent that they are part of the conservative network of activists, a lot of them, some of them are my friends or four more republicans. they are independent, they are formal, they identified one as reagan democrats. it is a cross section of america. our opportunities as a party right now is to open our arms and welcome people who want to be part of what we think is a principled leadership that takes america and helps us build infrastructure and in power people and engage in a different way than what we see happening right now in washington. so i reached out my hand as the national chair and say we are fighting the same cause. we are fighting about the same principles of free markets, free enterprise, lower taxes, competitive marketplace where america stands strong with its head looking to the future and not trying to te

[applause] >> less than two weeks ago bob macdonald was sworn in as the 71st governor. he delivered the republican response. with that, we want to get your reaction from what you heard from the president and the republicans. here are the numbers. we are getting a call from mineral wells, texas. caller: if you wanted to actually get to the response of the american people, you should run at the airing of the speech and then give time for people to respond. now that i got through and i am a mckinney supporter. i did not vote for him, i voted for obama. -- i am a mccain supporter. i agree with the speech that he gave. as far as gov. macdonald, when he was talking about his kids and his daughters, i would rather that he address those people who did not have their children in front of them because they died in the war. >> thank you for that comment. senator mccain said that during his first year in office, the president and congress have amassed a four trillion dollar deficit. he says this is growing each day. he went after congressional earmarks. next is april from missouri.

a year later, bob macdonald loses the race for governor.e point, who might sit this one out. that is something that will affect 2010. candidate recruitment is solons borden. i am not being counter. i don't believe in talking about immutable characteristics be particularly important in identity politics. particularly for conservative candidate. at the same time, we're starting to see an uptick in a number of women who are running as conservatives this year. i think that is fantastic, if they want to do it. that is the big if. i'm always asked, what are their only 17 united states senators out of 100 for the mall when women are 53% of the country. they do not want to run. you have to overcome a great deal and really want to -- you have to believe that politics is the best place for your energy and yourÑi talent, for your resources, for your future. and for so many women, you have to swallow an awful lot to run for congress. i give enormous credit to those who actually step up and do that. but the pipeline has been a little bit -- even the cen
