bob redell right now, our wednesday road warrior.he's out on the road now from east bay into san francisco. how are you looking there? >> reporter: hey, jon, laura, trying to make the trip from antioch into sf. original plan westbound 4 to 242, 680, caldecott. but what anthony was telling us, the backups bad at caldecott. we didn't want to get stuck in the mess. still on i-80, highway 4, traffic as well as at the limit. going through canyons of martinez now. approaching 80 i'm guessing in a mile. now that will be our true litmus test. the transition, right now is normal, but the transition from here to 80 will be our litmus test to see how much the b.a.r.t. strike is affecting this part of the commute. of course we head further south. we get down east shore and into the maze and i bay bridge which we've heard they've had metering lights i believe on for already an hour. we believe a stall on the upper deck. we just want to show you by the end of this hour what the commute is like as the maze into the bay bridge trying to get into sf.

"today in the bay's" bob redell just arrived on scene. what's going on? >> reporter: officers have been here for a few hours. san jose's homicide unit is investigating this death of this child because that's standard when it's not clear how the child died. we're talking about a 7-month-old baby boy. someone at this apartment complex on makati circle dialed 911 around 1:15 to call for help to let emergency know there was a 7-month-old baby boy who was unresponsive. it's not clear if it was one of the boy's parents who made that phone call. the boy unfortunately was already dead when police arrived. officers have made no arrests. sjpd says it's too early to tell if something criminal happened, if the baby was murdered or died from natural causes like sudden infant death syndrome otherwise known as sids. you can see police are still here investigating the death of a 7-month-old baby boy found unresponsive early this morning. a 911 call was put in. homicide is investigating, but it should be noted that is standard when it's not clear how a child has died. rep
