let's get out to nbc bay area's bob redell. he's on that scene of this disabled train. everybody is okay? >> reporter: that's our understanding. we're along eastbound highway 24, that derailed train is still here on the tracks along the freeway. the fire department says b.a.r.t. was able to deelectrify the rails after the derailment and their staff escorted passengers on foot back to the orinda b.a.r.t. station, about a half-mile away. here's the view from earlier, nbc bay area's skyranger. this was a yellow b.a.r.t. train heading in the eastbound direction along the tracks on highway 24. it partially derailed around 9:00 this morning. b.a.r.t. says two cars came off the tracks. there was also a fire in the undercarriage of one of the cars and possibly a second car which the fire department was able to put out. three people sustained minor injuries. sounds like they'll be okay. b.a.r.t. and the fire department haven't said what caused the derailment. >> first and foremost, the train operator is responsible for the safety of the passengers, and maybe communicating inform
