meteorologist bernadette woods and bob turk are updating our conditions. bob? >> well, it was frosty and chilly this morning. a lot of areas did get at or below the freezing mark. right now, we warmed up to the mid-50s. normal high today is around 58. pretty close to most places. 52 in oakland. 50 in pax river. and 54 in ocean city. but this morning, yes, it was a chilly start. 31 at the airport. d.c. was 35. ocean city at the airport, at 32. elkton and hagerstown, 29. and the cold spot, oakland at 25 degrees. now, it has been an exception's warm march. more like may, actually. bernadette has a look at those numbers. bernadette? >> that's right. even though there was a chill in the air this morning. and that stands out because it's been so warm, we want to show you just how warm it has been. look at some of these numbers. so far this month, for our average high, 2012, this year, we've averaged 65.1 degrees. now, during that same stretch, the normal would be 52.7 degrees. we are in the double digits, above average. and we tend to see warmups here and there. but

let's check in with bob turk and the first warning weather center. hello, bob. >> i warned you that that front may stay south of us. and we'd stay in that cool marine air. for the most part, that's exactly what happened. until this afternoon, we were pretty much in the 50s. right now, a few showers south of the region, south of washington annapolis and over at the lower eastern shore. a few cells popping up to the northwest. still a chance we might see a brief shower. but right now, chances are very slim. probably less than 20%. temperature-wise right now, we're at 63. that is 10 degrees above normal, okay? but it's 10 degrees cooler than we were yesterday at the same time. so all in all, a pretty decent day. chilly, compared to what we've seen recently. chances of rain aren't that great. we do need it. >> bob, thank you. same-sex marriage is legal in maryland. but the fight continues. catholics who support marriage equality. the governor is trying to gain support as opponents of the new law conduct a petition drive, aimed at putting it to referendum.

let's check in with bob turk. he's tracking the storm. >> this is the frontal system. it's going to bring us dryer and cool air. beginning late tonight and tomorrow. take a look at the activity. all of it south of the baltimore, washington area. we had thunder and lightning here briefly. all of the activity now across southern maryland as you can see. shady side. the strongest activity just to the west of leonardtown. that one little thundershower, moving across portions of calvert county. and st. mary's county. and a little leftover in charlotte county. all moving off to the south and east. eastern shore, just light activity now. one little cell, as you can see it. right there over southern a.t. county, near shady side. around the baltimore region. cleared out nicely. looks like a decent forecast. take a look at cloud cover. it moved through so quickly this afternoon. most areas only picked up a tenth of an inch of rain or less. it is staying pretty dry. most of the atmosphere didn't really support much in the way of severe storms here. pennsylvania saw lots of areas

but here's bob turk with the updated numbers. >> dense fog, particularly in the eastern shore, where schools were delayed like an hour. even west of the bay, we had dense fog. but the sun has come out. this is the visible satellite. it's like going up and taking a shot. this afternoon, lots of clouds all across central maryland as you can see. but during the day, things begin to clear up. and boom, there they go. now we've got pretty much clear skies. temperatures have really jumped back into the 70s. look at cumberland. 81 degrees. oakland at 73. baltimore now at 72. ocean city, with some sun there at sketch. -- 67. now, tomorrow, see the 81- degree temperatures. they're going to be very common across the area. the only problem is tomorrow once again, the ocean and the bay, very chilly. so any stations close to those regions are going to be probably six or seven, maybe even 10 degrees cooler, away from the bay, easily, we could get to 80 degrees tomorrow. so a little tough to predict exact numbers. upper 70s at least maybe low 80s. 82 is the record. we could break it. kai? >> bob, t

bob turk is here with the updated numbers from first warning weather. >> it's just continuing. you're right. the whole eastern half of the country is way above normal. 10, 20, 30 degrees in some locations. take a look at radar. there are just a few light sprinkles and showers to the north of us. we'll take a quick look around. the closest thing i can find, a few very light sprinkles and showers, up across adams county, north of gettysburg area. the stuff out in garrett county, moving now into west virginia. that's moving due south. so it will not affect much of our region at all. now, once again, just a few light sprinkles or showers across northern carroll county. and that's pretty much it. chances of showers tonight, maybe less than 10% for most of the area. temperature-wise, it's warm again. 69, a little cooler than yesterday. had a bit of an easterly flow. warm spot up in elkton. 74 in ocean city. breeze there. they're at 58. to the west of us, 73 in cumberland. and 70. looks like the rest of the week, it's even warmer. good shot at 80 degrees two days this week. mary? >> w
