boeing will now pay shareholders 44 cents per share. and drug maker pfizer lifted its dividend to 22 cents per share the dividend boost didn't help shares of boeing today, though. the stock fell 1.5%. separately, boeing said it has almost 800 commitments from buyers for its newest 737 plane. that's 100 more than the update given just last month. pfizer's dividend increase didn't help its stock price today either. shares dropped a fraction. they were at a five-month high friday. in addition to the dividend hike, pfizer also okayed spending up to $10 billion in more stock buybacks. the return of the european worries after the weekend was underscored by the selling of european-focused exchange traded funds. with the credit agencies skeptical of the latest deal, these funds fell by at least 4%. the italian, german and spanish e.t.f.'s all fell in sympathy to their home stock markets. and illustrative of today's appetite of less risk, even gold fell-- down almost 3%. it's the steepest drop in gold prices in almost three months. silver fell t

>>neil: but in the case of boeing in south carolina and hiring these thousand right-to-work employees, in a right-to-work state, it doesn't work, right? boeing can keep them on the books, keep doing what they are doing so there could be an issue with future hires, but has it not been detoothed already or are you worried? >>guest: well, i'm a little, trying to get some more details from someone i know involved not case but it seems as if what has happened is that the union basically accepted the offer that boeing had on the table before the nlrb even brought the case. what happened was there were 18 months of negotiations between boeing and the machinist union with the nlrb acting as a go between, and they made an unprecedented offer from boeing to agree to advance pay wages and all this stuff in order not to have a problem. for some reason, and it is absolutely lost on counsel for boeing, somehow this deal got pulled after the boeing board medicine at night to agree to it, now it looks like they are talking about exact same terms for a different claim. i am not sure what the union won
