we're live in the windy city now, bracing for more violent demonstrations today as protestors head to boeing corporation headquarters to occupy , the occupy chicago movement claiming the multi billion dollar aerospace company avoided paying taxes because of its military contracts. jon: this comes after stepbs standoffs between protestors and police when demonstrators challenged police lines, throwing sticks and bottles. officers responded, making dozens of arrests. jenna: all this, just steps away from the lake side convention center where the president now hosts the nato summit. and today, world leaders set to discuss the war in afghanistan, as well as other key security issues. jon: we have live team fox coverage. steve brown is near the demonstrations right now. but we start with national security correspondent jennifer griffin at the pentagon. jennifer, i know that despite the protests outside, there is serious stuff going on inside. what is the president hoping to achieve at this summit?

protesters vowing to shut down boeing chicago's headquarters today.w their mission? >> reporter: they're just starting up today, suzanne, they met at a park and are making their way to boeing. according to a text message sent out by one of the organizations, they have about 100 people at this point, expecting that number to grow, and their goal is to shut down boeing for the day, basically encircling headquarters in downtown chicago. we saw the video yesterday from the ruckus that took place about three blocks away from mccormick place. prior to that there was a ceremony, and the reason that people were there, there was a ceremony involving iraqi and afghani vets that came to throw back their medals, and what they did was they threw their medals over a fence towards where the nato leaders were meeting. it was a long ceremony, and it went off without a hitch. take a listen, a little bit, watch one of these veterans throwing their medals towards the nato leaders. >> i served in the army national guard for 12 years and all i have to say is this is not so

only to protest the war, boeing being a defense contractor, but also marching for justice. they were saying boeing is one of the big companies that pays very little in federal taxes in the country. they also then went, after that little demonstration, they sat in front of the boeing headquarters, blocked the streets, and then broke off into other groups and marched over to president obama's election headquarters, reelection headquarters just a little bit to the east in the prudential center where they had a press conference in which they complained about the police treatment they received on sunday at the tail end of their big protest when they marched to the mccormick place where the nato summit is being held. there were about 2,000 people in that march. it went mostly quietly, mostly without incident. at the end of the march, most of the people dispersed quietly at the end of the speeches, but a hard-core group of about a couple hundred remained. some tried to push their way to the mccormick place. that met with clashes with police, some baton swinging on the part of poli
