the conditions for boeing are very poor.ort the faa, they have been very vigorous with boeing. the faa make them show documentation. i think boeing has done a terrific job with new leadership under dave calhoun and turned the company around, but i think there are issues in seattle, and the guys manufacturing and delivering aircraft need to get their act together because boeing the last few months has been very disappointing, that is a fair description of it. manus: that is certainly a description of where you are. when other people are flattering, you typically take risks. you mentioned a couple of times expanding into other airports as others pull back on capacity. which countries do you think could top that agenda and argue in active talks or being offered pretty amazing terms? michael: we are getting dizzy with the number of airports at the moment. already for this summer and winter, we have announced eight new bases in capital cities like croatia, stockholm. we are adding more places in the grease islands -- grecian isla

that is a huge step forward to the supply chain as they try to put pressure on boeing and boeing's supplyl kinds of things happening. they have access to china. europe starting to come back. globally aviation will come back in that price strongly in airbus today. alix: super interesting. bloomberg airline and auto reporter sid phillips joins us now. why do you think they are doing this? is it to put the screws in boeing or do they say -- did they see recovery and demand other suppliers do not see? sid: it is a mixed picture. for the airline industry, narrowbody is where they have large domestic markets, narrowbody's have been doing all right, especially in large domestic markets like the u.s. and china. we are seeing demand coming back to 2019 levels. recovery will be led by the narrowbody segment and a lot of that is driven by the 320 series . it is among the best-selling narrowbody series of all passenger jets. guy: boeing struggling in china, airbus is not. is that part of this narrative that they could see china coming back in a big way that needs to be able to deliver upon that? sid:

what can we expect from boe today?we are expecting the monetary policy committee to keep the key interest rates on hold today. what were expecting to change is growth expectation. back in february they forecast 5% growth for the year. since then we've had a raft of good news, the success of the vaccine rollout which allowed loosening restrictions, and we've had extended government support measures. as a result we've seen resilience of consumers and that's reflected in all the economic data for retail sales through job assessments. to put it all together, it's a pretty significant upgrade to 7.5% growth for the year. but gdp has been swinging a lot throughout the pandemic. what investors might be even more interested in our in -- inflation expectations. bloomberg economic sees inflation tipping past the banks 2% target. if the bank agrees with that, one economist i spoke to said it's a pretty hot issue manus:. you look at bank of canada relative to the rest, the market expects a hike from the bank of england next year.
