bonnie, what's the latest of the storm's movements?ell, kier, it's interesting to note that officials have made quite a bit of progress from where we were one week ago with the oroville dam. the current levels have been reduced by about 45 to 46 feet as of this morning. hopefully they'll continue to do that, before the next storm gets closer, because we are anticipating more rain. we already have the first in a series of storms hit southern california yesterday. these are all record rainfall amounts. into santa barbara through santa maria and lancaster. quite a bit of rain. as we look at the current radar picture, you can see rain scattered about from l.a. and santa barbara down through san diego. but more heavy rain is in the forecast. another storm this time, impacting areas like oroville, into lake tahoe, where we'll see some snow and san francisco. we could see 2 to 3 inches of additional rain in and around the san francisco bay area. what a wild month this has been so far with more wet weather in the forecast. so, with that, we're

bonnie, good morning to you. what is happening with this storm now? >> good morning, dara. we have very heavy rain working its way through san francisco. san diego getting drenched, a record-breaking storm with low pressure getting as low as we've ever recorded in february in san francisco earlier last night. and now we're seeing the flood watches persist for san diego, palm springs, l.a., and santa barbara. the watch will go straight through the morning hours. at least we don't have warnings at this time. but we still have that threat for flooding. and not just once, but a series of storms coming through. the one that we've been focusing on yesterday and today continues, but there's another one that's out into the pacific, and that could be a rainmaker and potential floodmaker as we go into sunday and even monday. notice oroville, where the dam we've been watching will be impacted with rain going into sunday. saturday and sunday, the rain continues, mainly, i'd say, at least in southern california, more shower activity after about 10:00 a.m. but we're still looking at, aga

let's bring in meteorologist bonnie snider for more on that. . >> we're dealing with milder temperatures a little bit of snow. lake-effect snow. parts of new england. when you look at the winter as a whole, we have not seen a a lot of snow at all. remember over 100 inches of snow in boston in 2015. this yore nothing like it. on average 11 snow days, but so far this winter only 8. it's even more dramatic when you head to chicago. . typically a snowy city with an average of 11. not even half that much so far this winter. why? temperatures are just too mild. look at the jet stream all the way to the north bringing spring-like temperatures far north as well. these aren't just 5 or 10 degrees above normal. some numbers are 30 degrees above normal. so really warm weather up into minneapolis, st. louis, nashville, much of the south as well feeling much more like april or may. as we look towards the weekend in the northeast, warm temperatures into the 60s in new york city. but contrast, it's looking stormy across much of california and we're watching the dam situation. any rain coming in had can
