joining me now, msnbc meteorologist bonnie schneider. so, bonnie, yes, just talking about a fan right now. >> i was just going to say, step outside, thomas, you'll get that cold air that you need. >> i'll chill down accordingly. but what's going on with this storm? what can folks expect? >> we are definitely looking at a monumental storm, and it may be a record-breaker for many, especially because it's happening in march. 58 million people will be impacted by this storm from monday night straight through wednesday. and remember, the bulk of it happening on tuesday. so, a blizzard watch for new york city, long island, coastal connecticut, rhode island all the y up into boston. that means we're going it see blowing and drifting snow and heavy amounts. let's break it down hour by hour, starting with monday night. heavy rain across the virginia area, into the carolinas. and notice you start to get that wintry mix coming through into washington, d.c., and some light snow along the jersey shore into atlantic city. the storm will gain strength o

msnbc meteorologist bonnie schneider watching all of it for us.ate us on when it is expected to hit. >> for the new york area, for example, we're expecting that snow to begin in the overnight period some time between midnight on monday until 1:00 a.m., and looking at the region overall, 58 million people affected and this is going to be fairly long lasting from monday to wednesday and i want to point out for the blizzard watch it was expanded into parts of northeastern new jersey. we're looking at blizzard conditions as well as boston and let's break it down hour by hour so you know what to expect and when. monday night the storm gains strength offshore and this is when you'll see heavy rain in the carolinas and you'll start to see a wintry mix in washington ask baltimore. low pressure works its way offshore and it's all snow for washington, d.c., philadelphia, new york. not snowing yet in albany or into boston. that will begin later on in the day as of the latter part of the morning, but still, the intense snowfall and we could see one to three i

joining me, msnbc meteorologist bonnie schneider. bonnie, explain what we're seeing and when there's any good news in sight for next week. >> march 20th for spring, but that's not next week. we have to get through the rest of winter. bitterly cold, thomas. we have negative numbers for our current windchill right now. it feels like it's negative 15 in boston. you're getting ready not only for cold weather but snow. we'll be watching for highs today that will be cold across the great lakes and the northeast, but two areas to keep an eye on for the weekend for potential nasty weather and snow. storms in alabama wapd watch out for snow in the western piedmont of south carolina. really cold temperatures as well across much of the south central appalachians. as we look towards minneapolis, we could see snow impact your monday morning commute, but overall this isn't going to be too bad. a bigger storm is emerging as we go through monday through wednesday, especially tuesday. and this could be a big nor'easter as low pressure develops and bom

joining me now, msnbc meteorologist bonnie schneider. it's been completely wild and there's more kind of wicked weather in store for folks coming over the weekend into the new work week. >> yeah. still winter and even though daylight-saving time does begin on sunday, we have a big winter storm coming. it's feeling like it's the middle of winter. record cold temperatures are possible in syracuse, burlington, and boston on sunday. right now it feels like it's 19 degrees. it feels like it's 8 degrees rather in new york city with 19 as your current temperature. single digits and even below zero wind chmielewskis are possible this weekend with a really strong push of arctic air plunging southward. we're also looking at that threat for very cold temperatures to bring about the potential for snow into parts of iowa, minneapolis, maybe a little bit, but more towards the south we could see some heavy amounts. looking back off into western north carolina, this is where we're likely to see heavy snow through the weekend in the mountains and places

joining me now, bonnie schneider. good morning. what is in store for this weekend? it. >> arctic air is back. snow and possibly major snow on tuesday. right now though it feels like 5 in cleveland and it feels like 8 in new york. so we have some really cold air in place. that means temperatures will stay in the 20s and 30s, not just today, but also for sunday. in chicago, we'll be feeling a windchill of negative 5. there is snow in the forecast in the south. so in the mountains of the western piedmont, north carolina, also in south carolina light snow expected, but still anytime it snows there, big news. heavier snow through areas in the central and northern plains. that is through sunday where we could see 4 inches, maybe even 8 plus in some areas. and start of the week, likely to see a major storm emerge. low pressure from the west as well as developing off the coast will likingly bring heavy snow starting early tuesday, rain in the carolinas and delmarva. how much snow and exactly where the low will track is still yet to be determined. but most of the computer mo
