london mayor boris johnson is in town highlighting a new report showing u.s. putting more money into london startups than ever before, and investing more than $795 million in two startups, more than half of the city's venture capital funding in 2014. my guest played a large role in recruiting those investors. the digital adviser to the prime minister joins me from new york. but what's going on in london? how would it look different than what i had seen four or five years ago? >> the economy has completely transformed. the government recognized there were green shoots and tried to recognize how we could help these companies grow and give them the incentives they need. i'm happy to report we are the world's largest digital economy in terms of percentage of gdp. we will be at 12.4% of gdp next year. >> that's london? >> the u.k. >> the entire u.k.. that's more than any other country? >> it's the highest percentage of gdp of any g-20 country, so it is a thriving sector. we are the largest e-commerce participants in the economy. we spend more on e-commerce than any

i want to know, as a greabrit -- we had boris johnson on last week. he said we believe that it is a right to bring the referendum in the u.k. up to renegotiate the terms of the eu. bring it forward. >> if we waited to any to 2017 -- force is assuming the conservatives will be a minority government led coalition or with the election. the most likely result is the labor led coalition with an alliance of formal sort with the -- labor no referendum. conservatives are the conservatives. we will have a referendum in 2017 or earlier. if boris is saying bring it forward, i would agree with that if the conservatives are in control. the sooner we get the referendum out of the way, the uncertainty will be reduced. the uncertainty of the scottish referendum and the common market referendum will be disruptive. that is the problem. >> the bottom line is whether the u.k. should stay in the eu. >> yes. i should just say yes or no. >> martin sorrell staying with us. does anyone look at online ads anymore? we will talk to martin about that and more. ♪ >> it is 15 minut
