wsls 10's rob manch has the details for us from botetourt county. the friends of the greenfield preston plantation presented supervisors with a check for 40 thousand dollars this afternoon. they say they raised that money just yesterday. at the meeting, descendants of the slaves that used to live and work in the building expressed their anger and frustration to the board. but former supervisor steve clinton says their plan has the potential for the board to save face with the county while still moving forward with planned industrial development. steve clinton, former board member:"we think there's opportunities to relocate that she'll building on the site and maybe modify the site just a little bit. it would still allow a standoff distance for the historic buildings to go back on their we'd like." the group has asked the board to give them a response to their proposal by tomorrow night before the next structure is planned to be moved. all told, the friends of the greenfield preston plantation tell me they have the potential to raise around 2 hundred

people protesting the planned move of two historic slave structures in botetourt county held a vigil at the site today to honor its history. been fighting the plan since the county first announced it last october. she tried to get an injunction to prevent the county from moving them .. but a judge denied it. now -- lewis is determined to show she's not alone in her opposition to plans for future construction on the historic hill. shirley lewis, slave descendant: "to put up shell buildings, to put up 3 storage buildings, it's just actually, i feel, a slap in the face to the slaves and to all the descendants and to the citizens of botetourt, the commonwealth and america, this is american history." the county plans to move those buildings next week. lewis says even if the buildings are uprooted .. she will fight any construction on the hill .. she says ... contains unmarked graves of her ancestors who worked as slaves on the greenfield preston the campbell county republican committee's lawsuit against two former board of supervisors candidates will go to trial october 12-th. the case al
