now, the gusty winds also causing serious damage in the boulder creek area of santa cruz county. fire officials saying a redwood tree came down on top of a home on bobcat lane. a piece of a tree hit the house and trapped a one-year-old inside. crews were able to tr that child to the hospital but that infant is critically injured. but it is conscious and breathing. >> we were on top of the roof and inside delivery room where they were cutting away the weight of the tree and removing that off of the patient. and then rendering aid as quickly as we could to control the situation. reporter: but the damage does not end there. look at video from the hills above redwood city. around 4:45 p.m. yesterday the winds ripped a roof off of a home on hillcrest way. the roof was laying in the middle of a roadway, when the san mateo county fire crews responded to the scene. luckily, no injuries were reported. back here on the pen according to the outage map power should have been restored to this area behind me around 2:00 a.m. but four hours later that is clearly not the case yet. kumasi: thank

they say it was howling near boulder creek in that area where that tree fell on top of the home. boulder creek is just a few miles from saratoga. this all happened at around 7 o'clock last night. at least 5 people were inside the home and 2 dogs. they were not injured. but unfortunately, when the tree came down, went right through the home, it fell on top of the baby boy pinned him between the tree and the floor. firefighters got to the scene. they did all that they could. they were fearful for their lives as well because the ceiling could have a collapsed on them and injure them. they had to bring out a special equipment called the jaws of life, the jaws of life or actually use if there's a bad car accident or something of metal with a ripped the door open just to get the victim out. they have the use that just to get the baby out from underneath the tree rushed into this location 17 miles away, by the way, from boulder creek, where he's been in the hospital ever since. i'm sure he's surrounded by his family. probably not hard to figure out exactly what happened. it was the wind

this is the giant redwood that fell on bobcat lane in boulder creek. it's top crashed through the living room , pinning two year old milo smith. the patient wasn't going to be able to be removed without removing that tree and they needed to hurry. first responders scrambled, tried to soften enough of the tree to reach the toddler cruise on top of the roof and inside the structure in the living room. where they were ultimately cutting away that weight and removing that threw off the patient and then rendering it is as quick as they could to control the situation. the child was in critical condition, but conscious and breathing on his own. he was transported first to dominican in santa cruz than to santa clara valley medical center. authorities say he is now stable but has serious skin wounds and is suffering from crush injuries to his lower body. the boulder creek fire department was inundated with calls tuesday night with high winds, downing power lines and trees all over this in an area that had been hit hard by the ccu lightning complex fire not long

the roof collapsed, but there's holes in the structures of boulders came down. there's a lot of rock in the mountain up there, and so if that boulder came down and was flying through your house, i mean, that's it's terrifying, terrifying, the neighbor says his cell phone video shows just how bad the damage is. all after the hillside above the 400 block of pilot place, let loose a destructive mudflow that slams right into some of the homes below. there's major damage to the rear of the affected structure. portion of the hillside that came down was a very large portion, probably about 40 ft wide that came down with a large amount of material home structurally damaged by the mudslide, the home next door with minor damage, as well as the home above the hillside. it lost part of its patio and retaining wall l. a county fire now watching the hillside very carefully, making sure it's stable, no longer a threat. even with more rain expected, there's always a concern at the hillside , specially the over saturation of the soil. that's why we'll continue to watch it just o

the boulder creek fire protection district says it has been inundated with calls, denied of trees down and blocking homs power lines, blocking roadways and other wind related damage. and right now, fire officials are urging people to stay in their homes during the windstorm. san francisco the powerful wind gas, toppled a tree under the bay bridge and even blew a roof off of a home. ktvu jana katsuyama shows us some of the damage. the massive tree at the corner of garfield square park came crashing down tuesday, turning utility and power lines into a tangled mess . cars beneath were smashed. fortunately, no one was inside. then came outside to see what was going on at the intersection and there was a lot of them pg and e equipment. people nearby were among more than 7000 san francisco residents who lost power tuesday. san francisco street crews working into the night trying to catch up with all the calls for down trees, portrayal avenue near 24th street tree limbs, crashed onto money bus lines and destroyed a bus stop. luckily no one there was hurt, but from two pm the block was closed.
