let me give you a look of why this is such an impacted area. here is boulder colorado. we are looking up here towards the west. those are the mountains. boulder creek is right here as you go from boulder and then towards the west. so boulder actually empties right there, and that's the biggest problem. it isn't a flood plain, and this particular flood they say is a one in a 100 year event. major problem there. a lot of areas just over here towards the east have been flooded as well. over the next day or so, floodwaters are in effect in the northern part of colorado and the higher elevations we talk about flash flood warnings. as i said, another three inches of rain over the next 72 hours so that's already on top of saturated ground. this is going to be a major problem, also looking at flooding down here, this has been going on because of the monsoon sippuation all the way through september. as well as what is happening in parts of utah. now, down towards the south and mexico, we have two tropical storms one on each coast causing major problems. these two storms are going

boulder. take a look at this. is is a group of college kids that have come out here in the middle of the street, cu boulder has canceled class, but the students have come out here and they are building a dam in the middle of the street trying to keep the water from going into the basement of the apartments over here. so far they have been successful, thaz worked, but it has been raining here off and on and heavily over the past three days now. and it seems to have just been continuing on and on and on in this period. it really rained overnight, and that is when some of the flooding occurs and when the water rescues took place. this scene took place in broomfield county, a culvert cut under a bridge, three cars went into the water. dive teams had to go in and rescue three drivers that were there. they put chains on the vehicles, we were understand, and they were able to get everybody out safely. those people were taken to the hospital with only minor injuries. back here near downtown boulder again, the water and rai

we do have another batch coming at us right now but in boulder really no rain for the past four hours or so. look at boulder creek out here. listen to the roar of the creek. it's actually come down from an all-time crest of just under eight feet. normally this is a tranquil creek. but it's coming under the bridge. behind me a tree coming down boulder canyon, stuck under the bridge. debris across the river. this is about 30 yards across. a lot of photo ops out here because of 10, 12, 14 inches of rain that fell in the watershed up in the foothills and down here in the front range. north of here, the big thompson river now has gone across interstate 25. that's the major route between denver and cheyenne to hook up on i-80 to get east and west. that is now closed. the big thompson river has completely engulfed i-25 up there. we still have the flash flood watch until at least noon. the worst is over. going around town right now, some of the barricades are coming town and the water is backing off on the intersection of the streets. what we've seen around town are the heavy front-end loaders and the sn
