cbs news correspondent cynthia bowers has the story. >> reporter: 26-year-old nicole howell always wantedcher. her dream came true last year when she was hired to teach english at a high school in dayton, kentucky, just outside cincinnati. just over a month after she started, everything she'd worked for came undone. in december rumors began to fly atel howfal was having sex with a 16-year-old football player at the school. she reported the rumors to the principal only to end up being suspended a few days later. then in january, covington county police arrested nicole howell and charged her with first degree sexual abuse. police say the teen-aged accuser claims the two had sex four or five times at her apartment last fall. howell's trial is set for october. if convicted, she faces one to five years behind bars. she maintains her innocence but knows, even if she's acquitted, she may never be trusted in a classroom again. cynthia bowers, cbs news, chicago. >> joining us now from cincinnati for an exclusive interview are nicole howell and her attorney eric deters. good morning to you both. >>

cbs news correspondent cynthia bowers has his remarkable story. >> reporter: ben kopp became every bit wanted to be since he was 7. he'd done two tours in iraq by the time he was 21. then came afghanistan and dozens of dangerous missions hunting the taliban. but two weeks before he was set to come home, ben was gravely wounded saving his unit in a fire fight. he was airlifted off the battlefield and made it halfway around the world to walter reed army medical center. ben's mother jill stephenson rushed from minnesota to be at her only son's side as doctors fought an uphill battle. >> he was my hero, and i loved him. >> reporter: ben kopp's heroics didn't end in afghanistan. even in death he kept saving lives. >> i kind of like refer to ben in the third person as my heart now. >> reporter: until last fall, judy meikle was the picture of health. then one day she woke up and couldn't breathe. she was shocked when she got to the hospital. >> there was no choice. there was no way to repair it. i needed a transplant. >> reporter: ben's mom jill heard about judy's plight from her cousin, and
