for years the family searched for the boy. leads would come in but with no sign of the boy. in 2011 the case was picked up by the fbi's cold case unit and recently shed new light on the case. earlier this month, the feds along with fairfield police hegde family friend, michael fejerang amma with the boy's disappearance. >> it was tough. now that i am a grandparent i think about how my parents felt about him and how much they cared about him and i just think, i couldn't go through that. with my grandkids. >> reporter: the fairfield home where the family lived is gone as well. it is now a strip mall. as for fejerang, he was convicted in three child molestation cases and has been in prison for more than a decade. fairfield police say they're working on extraditing fejerang to solano county to face charges into the disappearance and killing of the boy. police say he this remains an active case but they will not say the suspect acted long. they will not reveal whether there has been a confession or if a body was found. >> so unbelievable to have this happened so many years later.
