nbc's matt bradley joins us from hong kong. matt, tensions there have reached an all-time high. >> reporter: frances, this is not ending any time soon the last couple of minutes, before you came to me, there was a fire once again started on the campus if you can -- it just kind of da ma was visible from here across the harbor we're quite a distance away. this just goes to show there's some hundreds of students who are still ensconced inside that university they're not going anywhere and the university president and some officials have tried to make a deal with the police to try to peacefully resolve this situation but it really lolike t to let any protesters exit peacefully they met some of those trying to flee the university grounds with tear gas and more rubber bullets. it seems the situation right now is the police don't want to peacefully resolve this. they want to make as many arrests as they possibly can this is well into the sixth month of this protest movement this doesn't show any sign of easing up. that's because this
