. >> now live to brandon hudson who is live in middletown and the search for the shooter barricaded in that home. >> brandon, what's the latest from your vantage point? >> you talked about that heavy police presence in the brick mills farm developmentier. we can show you the neighborhood is still on lockdown. you have county police around here. we walked across the media staging area. as we were waiting on police, you can see police are directing traffic, leaving from the school at the moment, but again, that neighborhood on the other side of that elementary school is still on lockdown. we have some video from a witness that we got a little more than an hour ago, showing s.w.a.t. running into a home in the brick mills farm development. you can get a look at the neighborhood from sky 4's 10, the aerials we've been showing you. we learned a shoot-out between the officer and the man police believe shot and killed a delaware state trooper led to this neighborhood development lockdown. we spoke to a neighbor who said this is quite unusual because the neighborhood is quiet. >> evidently we h

i'm brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. >> a long and tense night. the nbc 10 morning team will have any updates from overnight starting at 4:30 a.m. >>> more breaking news from the murder trial of eric frein. a jury sentenced him to death. >> randy gyllenhaal has the latest developments. randy? >> reporter: this jury deliberated for nearly five hours, well into the night, then one minute before 10:00 p.m. they came back into the courtroom with a unanimous verdict saying that eric frein will be executed for his crimes. we just saw some members of the jury hugging in the jury room. obviously a very difficult decision for them. and as is tradition the bells rang loudly after the verdict was announced. these bells tolling as a defendant is sentenced to die, as is tradition here to notify the town of the verdict. meantime in court, eric frein had no emotion. his defense team hoped they had hoped for a life sentence and eric was hoping for one too. but the jury found zero mitigating circumstances meaning they didn't buy into the defense theory that frein'

drivers are advised to find an alternative route. >> let's go live to nbc 10's brandon hudson. he's in middletown close to that spot where the barricaded suspect is. >> brandson, you're about 15 miles south of that wawa. you're being kept away for safekeeping. what can you tell us about what's going on in that neighborhood behind you? >> we just saw two new castle county suvs and a fire engine drive all the way down here. now you can see probably a new castle county suv coming back, a couple of them at that. but what you see out in the distance, that's brick mills farm elementary school. that has been lifted off lockdown in the last couple of hours or so. but on the other side of that is the brick mills farm development where the s.w.a.t. situation is going on. police believe the suspect is in his house barricaded in that neighborhood. sky 4's 10 gives you a look over the neighborhood. police told us in the last half hour or so that shots were fired between the suspect and the officers. however, they are trying to keep the neighbors safe at the moment and they're going to come
