. >> brandon hudson joins us live where the victim's boyfriend is being held right now. >> the suspect will go before a district judge tomorrow morning. we tracked down a relative who said she never liked the victim's boyfriend but never suspected he would be arrested for killing her. >> it's reality. chris was a sweetheart. >> reporter: fighting back tears, janice spoke from the heart when she talked about her niece. around 7:00 this morning, the 26-year-old's body was discovered at her home by her own mother. she had been shot once in the chest. >> her mother called me screaming and crying. >> reporter: police arrested thomas' 31-year-old boyfriend and the father of one of her two children. the couple started dating while thomas was in high school. >> him being arrested will never bring crystal barrack but give what he deserves. >> reporter: a neighbor says she saw someone run out of this house and come down this breezeway and went through the alley and got away. >> it's senseless you shoot your children's mother and leave her in there to die. >> reporter: the police chief credits ne

i'm brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. >>> a philadelphia man who has been in prison for the last 24 years is nearing his chance at freedom. the pennsylvania innocence project announced that john thomas will have a hearing tomorrow. he was convicted in 1994 of the murder of domingo martinez. his mother says that he has spent every day behind bars fighting to clear his name. >> i'm proud because not only did he just sit in the jail and do nothing but he knew he was innocent and he did something about it. >> reporter: her son has been a tireless worker in the library trying to find a way out. he could be released on wednesday. >> a rally for peace in north philadelphia in sponresponse to shooting. police don't know what sparked the gunfire on saturday night. a group was outside listening to music and dancing. two men drove up and opened fire from their car. demonstrators called on the community to stick together and stay strong. >> i appeal today to talk to the community, start the process, let the little brothers know you should have the courage to assemble peacefully and know that violence

brandon hudson has more. homeowners say this accident is not a surprise to them. >> reporter: that's right. neighbors say accidents at this intersection are common but they have never seen one involving cops until today. police were on their way to a shooting when a car struck them at this intersection. sky force 10 shows you the aftermath of a car crash. two police officers lying on the ground in pain. philadelphia police say a driver struck their car. >> kind of like a bang like thunder. >> reporter: the collision happened feet away from athena scott's home. >> the car got hit and two cops laying on the floor. >> reporter: her family shared this foe with us. you can see where the driver hit the police suv on the driver's side. the impact deployed the air bags in the suv. >> you walk out and the first thing you see is 20 cops on the street. >> reporter: the officer responded to a call of a shooting at a park which was six minutes away. we learned someone shot a 23-year-old woman twice in the leg at the park.

brandon hudson shows how his community is calling for justice and peace. >> reporter: on the same street where someone killed taimir, a mix of family and friends and neighbors gathering in front of a memorial to the 14-year-old. >> something like this happening is terrible. >> reporter: robert smalls is frazier's uncle. he heard about his nephew's death on the news. >> to many kids getting shot out here, man, and too many kids doing the shooting. >> reporter: nbc 10 was there 24 hours ago as police taped off the 2,000 block of orr leans street for a double shooting. frazier was found unresponsive on the street. >> i heard the shots and seen a guy running. he had blood on his shirt. >> reporter: a neighbor says she didn't get much sleep after the shooting. she called frazier a great kid who would run errands for her. >> a wonderful kid. a good student, a good son. he behaviored and listened to his mom. >> reporter: one of frazier's aunts joined us. she had a message for the shooting. >> this is not fair to kids. >> reporter: the philadelphia police have not made any arrests or have anyone

they share their story with brandon hudson. >> open the door. all of this is broken. >> reporter: sonya shows us where she says s.w.a.t. officers mistakenly broke down her door at 7:45 last wednesday morning. she was at her home with her friend. >> the police come in with the gun and pushed me and her on the floor. i said what happened? he said no talking the police will explain later. >> reporter: she told us that the s.w.a.t. used a flash bomb in the kitchen. but then realized it was the wrong home. >> two police coming by again he say i'm sorry. that's my mistake. that's wrong house. >> reporter: you can see the door is wobbly. the city crews fixed part of the frame but the family has to use a 4x4 to lock it at night. the family showed us how they use it to keep the door closed. they also shared photos with nbc 10 of the damage left behind in the home. >> do you get nervous being in the kitchen since last week? >> yes. >> reporter: her sons say they drove their mother to the hospital and learned she had high blood pressure because of the tens

and as nbc 10's brandon hudson reports, that search stretches from here to poland. >> reporter: state police say this is where they found the missing mom's car. people in the community, some of them who didn't know this woman, are passing around fliers to keep the search fresh. >> we're out here, you know, trying to get the word out orp until she is found, this is how a group of homeowners spend the free time. canvassing the neighborhood. >> we told everything. >> you did? >> i did. >> reporter: talking to neighbors and passing out flyerses. >> we have made it our mission to find her. >> reporter: nbc 10 joined the group tuesday night. some of them strangers who now feel a connection with the missing mother. >> i mean, this is a woman, 43 years old, wasn't like she's a long running track record of running off and disappearing. >> reporter: pennsylvania state police say she was last seen april 10th. her husband said she left in a panic and late for work. co-workers say she never showed up. weeks later, investigators found her audi, the one shown in the photo, but no sign of her. >> we
