brandon rittiman will help us look deeper into the results tonight in just a bit. >>> first we go to steve staeger at byers middle school in denver where the lines were long as they were at caucus sites across the state. steve? >> reporter: they wrapped around the school. i want to give you a number we got in the last hour. they were expecting about 1,200 people inside this school. they got close to 3,000. so they more than doubled it. they were expecting about 20% of each precinct to show up. obviously it was a whole lot more than that and it created a bit of a logistics nightmare. registration and check-in took a lot longer than expected and things didn't get started for about an hour and a half after it was all really supposed to get started. now a lot of people were encouraged by that. others were just downright frustrated. i tried to get here a little early, but even then we waited in line about 40 minutes. if they don't have time for us, then that's great. that's perfect for them, but at the end of date for those people that are waiting that's awesome and they really want to be
