this is the branson mall where the storm hit.ooftop off there and took the rocks and threw them all away across the parking lot. you can see the parking lot is loaded with debris and these rocks. when these rocks were flying it was flying about 150 to 180 miles an hour. you can imagine being hit by one of these. look back over our shoulder. that is the holiday inn. that is the main business district here in branson. this is the country music capital of the midwest. this is their strip, just like the las vegas strip. and hotel and building after building along the strip, the tornado hit every single one of them from west to east down the line. they are all littered with debris very much like this. windows at the hilton blown out. the holiday inn express almost leveled in spots. there is lot of damage down the main strip. there is with all of this damage and all this debris, the amazing thing, jenna, there are no fatalities in branson. this did not turn out like joplin last summer. much more warning ahead of these folks. hit the be

one hit branson, missouri. a lot of damage to the entertainment district. this is the latest one down here. harrisburg, illinois, reporting a tornado with a lot of damage. possibly one fatality. we have our own storm to deal with here in the west. not severe weather. a lot of snow. it's a cold air mass in place. snow levels are very low in many areas, especially up in washington state. seattle and portland, we're not expecting a lot of accumulating snow for you. you'll probably see snow flakes. snow levels will be down to about 4 to 500 feet. we're going to get nailed here in the northern portions of california in the mountains. storm system, you can clearly see the upper level low just really well defined. little dry slot wrapping all the way around. very impressive storm system. one of the bigger ones we've seen. we've had the high surf on the coast, the high winds. that continues. you can see it spinning off the coast right now. just bands of rain and snow heading inland over in many areas, especially in the mountains. the snow levels are very low. in po

but last night, branson got in the way, harrisburg, illinois in the way.rrisburg tornado was an ef 4. people i think understand the hurricane category one, cat two. i'm not sure they understand the fujita scale or enhanced fujita scale. an ef 0 if you hear that going through your neighborhood you're going to lose some shingles. minor damage. the metal and the wood of your roof still going to be okay. shingles will be gone. e f-1 between 86 and 110 miles per hour. you will lose some of those broad, big pieces of wood. the plywood on top plus the shingles but the walls of your house will still be there. ef 2, now looking at winds to 35 miles per hour. you certainly will lose all the windows in your house. do not go and open the windows to try to relieve the pressure. that is an old myth. that's a 50-year-old plit. if you open the windows, get near that glass you're putting yourself in danger of being cut by the glass. if that tornado wants the glass it's going to take it whether it's open or closed. that's going to give you strong damage. some of the outside

still looking at the pictures from branson, missouri. the overnight tornado situation.e showed you the entire front of a billing being taken off. we're talking about a 2 or 3 storm in this tornado. that is bad damage. right up the middle of the town. and newburgh, indiana, the damage there really solid. this continues to go through kentucky and on into tennessee today. the severe storms risk has been increased up towards lexington and louisville. we're concerned at that kind of zone. i think along the southern edge of the front, this will stay going for a while. the warnings are popping this hour. that's the front line. that southern front will sag through tennessee. nashville, you're in line for some of the strong to severe storms later on this morning. it will be a tough day. on the northern line of the storm, big snowfall totals. northern new england, get up to date. if t temperatures right now, right near 40. reigned everywhere. moderate showers. -- rain everywhere. breezy >> all that weather, that's a lot, was brought to you by overstock.com. >>> coming up, emeril

at least 32 injuries are reported in branson, missouri, a major tourist destination. mike cork ran of our springfield, missouri affiliate is in branson. >> reporter: as you look over my shoulder, the sun has come up. residents are waking up to an entirely different scene. hotels, restaurants, and a lot of tourist attractions have been absolutely destroyed by this storm overnight. as of last check, about 30 people have checked into a local hospital all with minor injuries. no severe injuries at this point. no fatalities at this point. we're bringing you more details throughout the morning as they become available. for now reporting in branson, i'm mike, "cbs this morning." >>> that line of storms is pushing into western kentucky, tennessee and arkansas. it is expected to bring heavy downpours, hale, and severe winds throughout the day. the upper midwest where major blizzard warning is causing big trouble. freezing temperatures and up to a foot of snow are expected from the dakotas to wisconsin. the storm is set to head east after that. jamie yuccas is watching the stor

one town in kansas was hit last night, branson, missouri.rist destination there was hit by a tornado. the entertainment district was hit. couple of hotels and the roof of a walmart reportedly collapsed there. no fatalities as of now. that's still a breaking news situation. as far as the tornadoes go, there's still four or five tornado warnings. one in southern illinois, one in areas south of cape gerardo. that's going along the arkansas, missouri borders. we'll watch them crossing the mississippi border. new england, you're waking up to a cold, chilly morning with cloudy skies. we're set the stage for snow and a wintery mess especially throughout southern new england and central new england. you could get up to a foot of snow. ski resorts are going to love this. as far as getting around and commuting, the morning starts out okay. then the snow moves into areas like boston, providence, hartford. for the evening drive home, albany new york, mass. pike, going to be a difficult, heavy snow later this afternoon. some areas will turn over to sleet
