back with us, brendan buck.ous, maria theresa, does this new data you're seeing push back against a lot of headlines we are seen recently that harris is struggling to win over latinos? >> you know, one of the biggest differences between this poll and the one that we saw, for example, last weekend with "new york times" was that the "new york times" was a sample size of 902 registered latino voters across the country. this poll that we conducted, the gqr, specifically 2,000 latino voters only in four states, and what we found was interesting is that she's very strong in philly, and pennsylvania at 77%. but there is a weakness that she needs to work on in nevada where it's almost 5050. so, again, what we're seeing is that in certain battleground states, she's a lot stroker. she's grown up to 12 margins more than what we saw in biden. in places like nevada, we did see folks, not that they were going to vote for trump but they were going to stay home. it's really important right now that people get out the vote, they

brendan floated the fear that johnson will be held hostage and some republicans will say to him, i'mng to give you a boat for speaker if you say you will certify kamala harris's victory. of course the certification deadline a few days later. if that were to occur, what happens next? >> depends exactly on how the objection is laid out on january 6th. there are some objections that congress has suggested to me don't eliminate the denominator in the electoral college. there are others that do. this gets really complicated. my op-ed today tries to tease some of this out. the bottom line is that you could have a circumstance in which you tie in the electoral college because johnson is throwing out certain votes, and that with beholding to the house of representatives under the 12th amendment under totally arcane voting rules, where it is not the majority of the house, it is majority of the voting of the house, and things can get really unwieldy, really fast. as i said, it has been american principle, american honor the integrity of the parties that has presented prevented any of the scena

joining us now, msnbc political analyst brendan buck. to house speaker ryan and boehner. let's start off by getting your take last night on that spectacle we saw at madison square garden. speaker after speaker flat out racist and insulting, offensive comments about vice president herself, about a number of groups, including puerto ricans. how is that a helpful closing argument for the trump campaign? >> yeah, i mean, they couldn't help themselves. this is the last moment when you're trying to clarify the race. obviously, this is a huge distraction, and i guess the trump campaign trying to do what it feels like it should to clean it up. i guess half-heartedly a bit. i'm skeptical this is going to change a lot. it seems to play into what we already know about trump and a lot of folks who hang around him. to me, it reinforces the lack of discipline and seriousness within this campaign and, frankly, the party today. this type of thing used to be, you know, a spectacle, as you said. that'd be a show-stopper, and everybody would be talking abo

and i just wonder, brendan, how important at this stage of the campaign, with so few days remaining - peter alexander was telling us, in michigan early voting is already starting up tomorrow. with so many -- with so few days remaining, how important are surrogates? and i'm thinking, you know, mark anthony now speaking out for the vice president. you've got -- from the trump side, you've got rfk jr. and elon musk. you have cuban for the vice president. how important are the surrogates at this stage? >> it's less about the endorsement and it's more about the moment. for the next two and a half weeks, we are in a fight for attention. and if you can use a surrogate to get eyeballs on you so people can hear your message, that's a win. and i think that's what this is all about. elon musk shows up to your rally, people are going to pay a lot more attention to your rally than they would otherwise. it's not so much elon musk, who comes with lots of downsides himself. but i think harris would be wise to continue to roll out big surrogates. that's why people are asking, why aren't you out there

joining me now is democratic congressman brendan boyle of pennsylvania. good to see you.u feel about how well kamala harris is doing in terms of her chances at building up the vote in philly and in the suburbs, the colored communities outside philadelphia to offset those red areas of the state? >> well, it's great to be back with you and as you know pennsylvania is the biggest battleground state in the nation and it's one of the closest. that's the way we were in 2016 when the race came down to half a percentage point, 44,000 was the total vote number trump won it by and then when joe biden won it in 2020, he won it by 1 percentage point or about 80,000 votes. we are looking at a similarly close election and whoever wins here will be the next president. i believe that will be kamala harris. she has made significant inroads in the commonwealth of pa, ever since she jumped into the race, believe it or not, just three months ago. so at this point incredibly close, but i would rather be on our side than on the gop side. >> and what about you've got a hot senate race with vete
