. >> reporter: good morning, brent. if you look at it on the scale of the nfl, there are roughly one to two concussions per game, so it's certainly a significant issue. later this morning in new york city the nfl's brain, head and neck medical committee will be meeting today and tomorrow to look at ways to cut down on concussions and traumatic brain injury that say take place on the field. this meeting comes after a youth sports summit in d.c. yesterday during which the national athletic trainers association agreed to team up with the nfl to push for laws that will better protect young athletes. now, the kbidea is for each sta to have a law similar to the one enacted in washington state which requires young athletes and parents to sign forms acknowledging the risk of a concussion. players with a concussion must be removed immediately from a game and can't return to play until they have been cleared by a doctor. now, this issue has been receiving a lot of attention lately. just a few days ago, heath miller of the pittsbu

>> reporter: good morning to you, brent. you know, this is an emotional issue for families who have really supported these schools all along. they don't want to have to move their kids. this is one of the schools that's being considered here behind me. but the district is facing some real tough financial times, even struggling to stay afloat. the mt. diablo district recently learned it would have to pay $2.5 million to help pay for things like mentally disabled student services as the governor just vetoed state funding for it. but it is mandatory. on top of that, there is declining enrollment in the district. closing schools is expected to save at least $1.5 million a year for the district. a committee looked at a number of factors, like the condition of the school, how much it costs to operate and location. some parents are upset that academic performance may not even be enough to save a school. there are several scenarios that they're looking at, but the top recommendations are glenbrook middle, silverwood elementary and w

brent crude is that nearly $90 a barrel, the highest level since october of 2008.he freezing weather across much of europe has boosted energy demand and fuelled the rise of brent crude. prices are also being pressed higher as the economic recovery gains momentum around the world. metals are also going up in value, soaring from one high to the next. it is not only precious metals such as gold which are appreciating. the price of iron ore has doubled since 2009. metals such as copper cost t year. at the climax of the crisis, and this summer to definite, commodity prices were in the basement. since then, they have been rising consistently. this development also applies to agricultural products. higher prices for cotton, rubber, and coffee are also contributing to the rising index. analysts say the trend is likely to continue. >> the european stock prices closed lower this friday on a worse than expected u.s. jobs data. arkansas dw-tv correspondent has more on today's trading from the frankfurt stock exchange. >> during the morning trading session, everybody was lookin
