the brent dubai spread, what is the implication for that?here's many moving parts when it comes to this trade. i know some people will argue, and we can talk about the impact in the overall price, but we need to look at the total element of the trade. the way refiners make the money is running crude through a refinery to produce high-value products like diesel and gasoline and low value products like fuel. a couple of things have to give. the price of light crude will go up as the refining margin for diesel will be more valuable. the price of heavy will go down because the price of resid crack will go lower. the price of brent versus dubai will be a function of what the diesel crack does and the resid crack does. alix: let's get to the diesel crack. if we look at the spread now, what do you expect it to be? jonathan: if you look at the prompt margins on the front end of the curve, all else equal, the crack has been roughly $13 to $14 a barrel over the last year. right now, the forward margin is pricing about $17, and in our opinion, that is
