crude oil once again today is higher overseas traded brent, 82 a barrel u.s.raded oil up about 72. coming up in your morning rbi, an interesting stat on what oil is likely to do now that may want you to fill up your tank today. shell's ceo sat down with cnbc for an exclusive interview we covered a wide range of topics including climate change, the buyback program and the impact of steel and aluminum tariffs. we began with his reaction to brent crude hitting a nearly four-year high >> market is a bit tight in general. if you compare that with where we were a few years ago, the market has been tightening up. of course the market is well supplied we're not running out of oil at this point in time it's also fair to say that volumes and storage have come down spare capacity is lower than it has been before. i think there's a bit of tightness coming in the market you can see that reflected in prices >> is that why brent crude is nearing a four-year high then? >> i think that's part of it in the near-term crude prices are determined by sentiment and what's happening

brent rallied on the news. how significant is the shift on saudi arabia?> the saudi's aren't necessarily going for a $90 oil, but earlier in the year, we saw tweets from donald trump about crude saying he wasn't happy with the high prices opec had created and now the idea saudi's are creeping above $80 and are content to see it there, it is out of their control. it is an important shift because it suggests that in the short-term, the saudi's aren't going to step in and curb brent above $80 a barrel. >> oil, high after u.s. refiners eroded domestic stockpile to a new low. it the client by over 2000 barrels last week. what is the push and pull here? >> what you see is based on u.s. stockpile numbers. we saw opec watching the cushing number with extreme attentiveness before they made their decision to curb production output. what you are seeing is refiners stepping in and chasing the margins while they have them, and you are seeing a lot of exports. it is hard to think of the u.s. as a major oil exporter, but you are seeing that. >> brent, up 1%, the second w

those -- does that suggest a driver between the beauty i had cap -- brent? -- wti and brent?g driven by the emerging in the u.s. shale industry, talk about the infrastructure. there is an ongoing issue. in the short-term we have had other things like raising costs, availability of workers. it has produced in the shorter term. longer-term it is going to be the dynamic around how shale grows exponentially. broader commodities index has been confounding. looking at copper, we had seven straight weeks of money managers .utting their long positions we saw a rebound last week, 5%. the bloomberg commodities index had its best week since april. that is despite the trade war. this cannot last. >> it has confounded a lot of skeptics. i have been talking about positive fundamentals for a while in both metals. seems to be investor sentiment betraying. slowly starting to turn around. the declines in stockpiles, itper in particular, i think is starting to weigh on the relatively bearish outlook. the trade conflict, the concerns around the impact it is having on external driven demand out o

we have had brent crude playing around the $80 a barrel mark., we are looking at $100 a barrel in the new year. the big question as to whether we will see triple digits in oil prices. 0pec has said it will not increase supply because of the sanctions from the us against iran reducing by sobral. the problem with a high oil price is that it problem with a high oil price is thatitis problem with a high oil price is that it is the consumer. when we go to the petrol—bombs everything becomes more expensive in economies like the uk —— hopes the consumer. especially in emerging economies, not all of them are exporting countries. india imports about 80% of its oil. that sucks weighing on global growth, at a time when there isa global growth, at a time when there is a lot of uncertainty. —— that sta rts is a lot of uncertainty. —— that starts weighing on. it is one to keep a close eye on. we have the federal reserve meeting today and tomorrow. it is expected to raise interest rates tomorrow. there is concern, the rising cost of energy at the pump, but als
