we have actually started a now pathway at the bay view hunter's point neighborhood at bret harte. soee there are some other school sites that are interested in developing additional pathways as well. we have also highlighted here some of the recruitment and retention efforts for yale students as well. through the site support, we have done a number of presentations with d-lack and began to look at the alignment with the child development program. so assuming that -- that we have full classes, the cost of -- we wanted to take a look at the cost of all middle school students if they were to have a seventh class or period. it would be approximately 5.57 million annually. this number can be phased in, as language programs where built. so i think there are ways -- there's way that is we can begin to phase it in. even given the fact that we're in a budget crisis. we're exploring our approaches. perhaps prioritizing english learners and dual language programs. there's a critical need for that. in the middle schools, when we did place the programs of particular sites, one heavy considerat

two attend bret harte elementary. two attend george washington parliamentary. i chose them because of the repetition in our neighborhood. there was a grant. 50% of our teachers had to leave and we had to lose our principal. we would love you to stop the superintendent's office from making independent come up arbitrary decisions on policies and programs that affect our children's lives without our participation. in the bayview, we live to survive. we have enough going on. to have decisions made for us on behalf of our children is deeply unfair. it is just not right. we want to stop the superintendent zone policy until parents, teachers, and community members can come together. schools have been able to come up with a transformation plan that reflects the value and culture, the proper representation of culture in our communities. i want to celebrate the national board of teachers. i thought that was awesome. that is fantastic. i am so proud. but how many of the teachers have even been encouraged to participate in those programs? we would love to stand in here wit

faulkener, i read a lot of fitzgerald, i read "the sun also rises" a wonderful story about jake and lady bret and recently, this summer, i read "farewell to arms" and i reread it and you get something more out of really good literature every time you read it. i read a lot of paul. over the years i have and i thought he got international terrorism, one of the first people to write in a literary fashion about international terrorism and he's still perplexed by it. i guess i am, too. but, of course my old friend, norman mailer here... when he was writing this book, i was taking out a perfectly -- there you are. he signed the book. but he had just finished it you say and -- i was taking on a vi -- out a very oriental-american and i took her to a party and norman was there and i introduced her as the number 3 person in the cia, something like that, and he talked to her all evening long and i don't know if he ever did get the idea that she was just a banker but she looked like norman's idea of a spy. generally, i start my day with the newspapers. and i read three or four newspapers a day. and then,
