so we have tropical storm bret one of the earliest to form out of the atlantic off the coast of africand we have a wave behind that. what does that tell us? this could potentially be an active season i think, and here is the weather patterns that are steering, bret. we have this high pressure across the atlantic. that's going to continue this westward churn across the lesser antilles over the next 24-48 hours. low wind shear. what does that mean? it means we have the warm water and not a lot the tear this thing apart so we are expecting it to strengthen into a hurricane, moves over the lesser antilles. we'll see shear increase and that could actually hinder it from, you know, getting stronger as it makes its approach towards the caribbean. so we're going to have to watch this this weekend. here's the trajectory. if it moves south of the dominican republic and cuba it will be a weaker storm. if it kind of moves a little bit more towards the north and east, then it will be a stronger storm but will probably curve away from land. so bottom line is, we're going to have to watch this. it wi

let's start off with bret.ic and we have a system behind it that will probably become cindy. it is rare to see these systems form so early off the coast of africa in june. so we're keeping an eye on that. here is bret. we're going to get a new advisory at 11:00 a.m. and right now, doesn't look that great on satellite imagery but we do expect it to become a hurricane in the next 12 to 24 hours. moving through the lesser antilles we think south of puerto rico. when you see tropical cyclone frequency, the peak is usually in september. so we're already early with this kind of action. and we'll continue to monitor it. severe thunderstorms for parts of texas, louisiana, mississippi and up towards northern plains as well as florida and the mid atlantic. and then the heat. that's a huge story for texas and louisiana because it's been a couple of weeks now that we've seen temperatures well over 100 degrees with the heat index. it's going to be oppressive and people are urged to stay inside especially take care of the pe
