increasingly from the united states, you have a move, and brian deese was quite transformational on thisng we are not going to change china's policies, and the united states needs a national industrial policy. we need to be promoting national champions. we need our corporations to become more patriotic. to the extent that there is an alignment, it is increasingly the united states moving towards more interventionist, more strategic, and that won't create less competition from the u.s. and china. it will create more competition, but from a state to state economic basis. interesting to see if it moves anywhere because of course, the actors in the united states that are dominant are still very much the private sector players. guy: if i think about the 1960's, 1970's containment rollback, an era of inflation, is that where we are going back to as well? ian: it doesn't seem that way. i will tell you in terms of containment, even though the asia czar for the white house said that the era of engagement is over, he literally said that a couple of weeks ago in a speech at stanford, there are virt
