succeed the federal -- >> joining us to talk about the election and how it may impact the markets is brian gardnere watching is what happens to the senate at this point. you think the market is pricing in a potential biden win but not a democratic sweep why don't you explain that. >> i am. i'm also paying attention to what mario gabelli said. i think key appointments are important. i get the sense that investors are skeptical that if he wins he could get his agenda through a closely split senate, thinking 51/49. i think 52 is a magic number it's a tipping point if they have a good night and get to 52 seats, all of a sudden it gives the majority leader a little bit more room to start changing the filibuster, easing the rules to get legislation through. most of your viewers know you need 60 votes to get the votes through the senate there will be a move and that makes a tax hike easier and green deal easier. 52 to me is a pretty big number as i'm looking at election night. >> that means what in terms of the markets? >> i think if we get to 52 or higher, i think there could be a bit of a reversal of t

brian: let's move on and talk about the something that would help a lot of people in this country, and that's a stimulus bill, another rescue package. when you look at people like cory gardnerfor their seats, they seem to really think that's what the people of their states want. right now the republicans are at $1.8 trillion, nancy pelosi's at $2.2 trillion. why can't a package come together? what do you say to senate republicans that don't want to go along with what the president wants? >> i believe senate republicans would come along. the president noted that yesterday. we believe senate republicans are not what's blocking this, it is democrats. you look at both sides, one side has been move being, and it has been the republicans moving to 1.6 trillion, moving to 1th -- 1.8. nancy pelosi is sitting staunchly and i don't know if she's in the salon or back in congress, not moving us. the american people deserve better. steve: speaking of covid, governor andrew cuomo has gotten praise over the last six months or so for the way the new york state -- brian: he's got a book out. steve: yeah, he does. but at the same time, there are stories that joe biden would like to consider
