i'm brian hackney. >> i'm andrea nakano. we begin with new developments out of atherton. after days, investigators have uncovered that mercedes-benz found underground behind a mansion. the car was reported stolen in september of 1992. >> and police are trying to identify the owner but they do think he is did. and while cadaver dogs were alerted to possible human remains in the area of the car, none have been discovered so far. >> they are going through a landscaping project so it is quite possible it could be a worker who possibly got cut and dripped some blood on the ground. it could be someone vomited in the area recently or something has been buried there for some time. we just don't know what the dogs are reacting to until we discover it. >> atherton police didn't give any more updates only to say they expect more monday. >>> oakland police issued an alert due to an increase in robberies targeting contractors saying thieves are going after their power tools. those tools could cost up up to a few thousand dollars each. >> some of the contractors have been hit a number

. >> i'm brian hackney. we'll begin with big side shows taking over overnight. at least one of the side shows resulted in gunfire. we've got video from vallejo and oakland as da lin reports two police departments had very different approaches to the side shows. >> reporter: neighbors say they broke up this side show pretty quickly. over in oakland, neighbors say police watched the side show from a distance and did nothing. call it triple team action. three cars spinning donuts with people hanging out the passenger side windows. >> and they were making a lot of noise. >> reporter: the screeching tires woke up jose. it happened at the intersection of georgia street around 10:40 saturday night. >> it's very dangerous. very dangerous. >> how so? >> people were holding on the windows, and they turned those cars. it was very fast. if one of them loses control, it will kill at least five, four people. >> reporter: neighbors say they showed up in ten minutes, and they were failing to yield to the emergency vehicle. officers say they towed at least one car on the 30-day

brian hackney is here to tell us more about the calaveras fault. >> did you feel it? >> i'm in pleasanton on the calaveras fault, and no, i did not. >> that's bedrock for you. calaveras, we don't hear about it a lot. we hear about hayward and san andreas. the calaveras is capable of triggering a 7. we know that is in our future. it has triggered big quakes in the past. there was one in 79. there was one in '84. calaveras, the things about the fault in california, there is one big ball that runs from the south to the north, the san andreas fault. that's it, until the san andreas gets to about hollister. then it splits off . the san andreas comes up this way. the calaveras fault splits off to the east and goes up the 680 corridor. hayward fault is in between the san andreas and the calaveras. it is capable of triggering big quakes. today was not a big play. it was a modest, moderate quite. there is something that is triggered whenever you have a significant quake in california. first and foremost, we asked the ceo of templer if today's quake is a foreshock that could le

and more on the winds now, we turn to brian hackney who is doing weather. >> as you are doing sports. it is an official way to do the newscast. the gusty winds will be with us tomorrow tomorrow afternoon. it was fairly warm in some spot as the northwesterly winds took the warmer temperatures from the upper atmosphere and drove them to the ground. in santa rosa, at this hour, it is nine degrees warmer than it was yesterday at this time. no change in palo alto or half-moon bay. but it is all being driven by this big mound of pressure in the pacific. the low pressure that is spinning off of san diego is what is combining to give us pretty strong winds. not high wind warning status, but strong enough so that there are wind advisories posted. 14 miles per hour at half-moon bay. 28 miles per hour and windy in santa rosa. one of the reasons for the warmer temperatures. we expect it to be windy and clear. scoured out. the lower levels of the atmosphere close to the ground. it will be mild overnight. tomorrow, nice as well. numbers about the same tomorrow as they were today. still windy. mainl
