reporter brian hickey has more on the dangerous road conditions you could face if you are headed the sierra. >> reporter: this latest storm feeling spring feel like winter. chain controls in effect for drivers coming up over the sierra. you are gonna need to have those chains with snow tires to get across the mountain pass not only through today but caltrans anticipates into tomorrow morning and beyond. you will need chance or four- wheel drive to get over the sierra as this latest storm could bring as much as a foot of snow to the mountain passes. up to 2 feet of snow at the tops of the ski resorts. certainly a significant storm if it all holds together. it could be one of the first storms. it's too little too late as they've already shut down for the season. other resorts open getting ready for a powder day and hoping that will bring business hoping to make a little more money but again be ready for winter conditions here in the sierra. i'm britain hick -- brian hickey, fox 2 news. >>> 1.5 million pounds of dirt was going to be installed at levi stadium for the supercross events. i

reporter brian hickey joins us live from donner summit where even though it's spring, the mountains are starting to look like a winter wonderland. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, tori. up here on donner summit. the snow coming down. it started about 4 a. 30. in the last hour or two, we've seen a steadily snowfall. that's turn things into white. we talked to the superintendent of the caltrans area up here in the sierra saying they are 20, 30 minutes out from having chain controls under the present conditions. the highways are open. if you are watching this to the bay area, by the time you get to the bay area, the chain controls should be in effect with a heavy band of moisture moving its way up to the moisture. great news for the drought. they are expecting up to two feet of snow at the highest elevations at the top of some of those resorts. here at pass levels, could see about a foot of snow. again, great news for the mountains. we're looking across it. boreal. some ski resorts have shut down. boreal was making snow. they operate a summer camp. i imagine they are trying
