this happened along jones road between the walnut creek and pleasant hill stations. kpix 5's brian webb reports. >> reporter: ann officially this is a bart police investigation. and it's kind of turned into an eerie scene out here. the crowds have cleared out, the workers who came down here to see things for themselves, they are gone, too. what is left is this empty four- car bart train standing still on the tracks frozen in time and the bodies are still near the tracks about 500 feet to the south of us covered with tarps and there are a few bart officials running between the two scenes. this is what we know from bart management so far. two employees were hit by an out of service train about 2:00 north of the walnut creek station. they were working on a reported dip in the track at the time. by procedure one of them was supposed to inspect the track, the other was supposed to be a lookout for incoming train traffic. both are said to be experienced on the tracks and around the train. the train itself we're told was on a, quote, routine maintenance run with an experienced operator an
