brian kelly, what do you say? >> no. >> why not? >> it doesn't have to. >> doesn't it pressure gold, doesn't it pressure oil? >> it's all in the reason why you are buying the commodity. can you argue if money is flowing into commodities, you need dollars to buy them. as long as they aren't hedging out the currency risk the dollar could be strong. look at what happens today to the dollar. we are talking about king dollar hitting highs. it reversed. i think that will be significant. that was primarily due to ecb, some source within the ecb saying they may not do qe or act at all next week, which the mark was expecting. to the extent there was excess liquidity coming into the u.s. markets, i would watch the currency area, you could see a bit of correction in the u.s. markets if people are disappointed with the ecb. >> i look at the chart of wti. i look at a chart of crb since june. crb is down 7% the commodities index. can you tell me the strong dollar is not going to impact the quantity trade? >> no, i can't. it feels to me like it wo

brian kelly and guy adami, good evening, everybody. let's get straight to the top story. stocks selling off earlier today on reports that the ukrainian artillery attacked a russian military vehicle after it crossed into ukrainian territory. russia's defense ministry is denying that attack. but the impact on stocks was quite real with the dow down nearly 140 points at the lows, and the s&p also down about 14 points. this is really interesting, and certainly it wasn't just stocks that was reacting. we also saw quite a lot of sensitivity in the ten-year yield, hitting the lowest in over a year. and everyone is trying to work out how much lower it can go. >> you know, getting to the stock market, i think what we saw today was not surprising for a very quiet friday in the summer, when you also see markets started to tick back in the afternoon. if you get down to the headlines on russia, i talked to a bunch of people in moscow after that. and to the extent that they are getting good information, a lot of people actually thought this is believe this or not a de-escalation apropo

traders are tim seymour, brian kelly, steve grasso and dan nathan. tonight's top story, global volatility. stocks extending yesterday's sell-off on the heels of a slightly weaker than expected jobs report. the dow's lost almost 500 points over the last four trading sessions. the s&p down nearly 3% for the week, the worst in more than two years. in europe, major declines across the board on renewed concerns over russia and portugal. germany's dax breaking below its 200-day moving average for the fir time in two years. even asia under pressure today despite strong china manufacturing data overnight. what is going on right now, ambassad ambassador? >> i don't think things here are as bad as across the eu. pmis in europe were weaker, but china was great. u.s. numbers this week, which is causing the tension, and i don't think there's enough here to get so blown out of the water, but i get what's going on. on a relative value basis, people have been looking at the entire landscape saying with need to take something off the table. i'm surprised markets trad

our traders tonight are tim seymour, brian kelly, karen feinerman and guy adami. coca-cola is moving higher on the news along with monster beverage which is soaring after hours. if coke is moving higher, clearly, those shareholders leak this idea. >> this is the story of the market. we talked about why the market keeps going up. you might have mediocre news, these large companies have to go out and buy that growth. so for bold companies, i think it's great. what you do need to think about is what's pepsi going to have to do now? are they going to by growth and from whom? >> who do they buy? >> pepsi has been much more aggressive in the snacks and emerging markets. i think i spend time on this desk defending coke and their sluggish lean where they missed on marketing. this is a smart deal. what is different about this, brian talks about the mna activity or these types of deals by multinationals or big cap companies. this is not necessarily coke using an inflated stock as currency to buy something now on the tech space. you have to applaud the deal. they are clearly

there's a lot of uncertainty right now. >> do you agree, brian kelly? >> yeah, absolutely!ust take a look at the bond market. that tells the whole story today. you had the bond market sell-off in the morning on better-than-expected or good economic news, and then about 1:15-1:30, we had news from the polish minister that russia might invade the ukraine. we have found out there are 15,000 more troops, up to 45,000 russian troops on the ukrainian border, and boom, the bond market took off. it's all about geopolitics and what's happening in europe. those stock markets are not doing well at all. >> brian, all the same, there's been pushback on the floor here, people saying, look, if this were all geopolitics, we'd see, first of all, more of a bid in treasuries, you'd see more of a bid in gold, see more of a bid for the dollar. why don't you think we're seeing that? >> well, one, if you're seeing a bid for a dollar, then that's going to hurt gold, so, gold's been in a tough area. >> i understand the dollar's been a big move for a little bit now, but it's not as if it's suddenly
