emily roland, john hancock >>> brian kelly, you've long side that the biggest risk to the market is the fiscal stimulus package not passing here we are. is that a risk >> i still think it's a risk i'm surprised that the market is kind of shrugging it off my best guess is that people are thinking, well, okay, a couple-day delay is not going to matter that much but i just don't know what incentive the democrats have, politically, to really give in a lot here so, i think it could go on longer than we expected. at some point, maybe the market cares. i think that's the biggest risk. i mean, if you look at what's going on in the economy, we talk about what's going on with tech, but something like the single loan officer survey came out and it showed the big companies, you got all the money you want but the smaller companies, lending is tightening. so, if that continues to happen and you get people that are getting evicted and they no longer have $600 a week extra to spend, that will eventually hit earnings in the s&p 500. but until investors care about it, i guess it's a nonevent. but i still

i know brian kelly's one big concern has been what you just said the market doesn't seem to really care about anything right now. it's impervious. in a day or two at max you've had a vix that's gone from 80. i think it closed around 21 or so that's been coming down. the market is in cruise control. for example, apple since the march low has added to its market cap over a trillion dollars. think about that for a second. we used to talk about a trillion dollars as a magical number and apple just in the last five months effectively has added it to their market cap. today for example amazon added a target to their market cap so the numbers flying around here, we've become somewhat desensitized to it but it's something worth pointing out. >> that could have been an rbi i might steal that stat. i love it. apple at 1.976 billion closing in on that 2 trillion. let's follow this up now with something that jeff just talked about, actually income growth. if you have a job, you're not traveling and not spending money. you're probably saving a lot we're getting new numbers on retail trading activity

brian, to me, at least the manufacturing, the service number is pointing more in the direction the markets are pointing to. there is some data out there that says this economy still has momentum >> great point, kelly, and thanks for having us on. i think the ios number is important because the economy has been strong. in the month of july with respect to stock perform arngsp was more strong than people remember should i be a growth investor? what's going on in tech? some of the rhetoric scaring people off in the market it seems to us, kelly, most of our institutional clients are looking for reasons not to own the market instead of owning the market here, and that's not surprising given how much we've seen the market go up. but this is what people like to talk about, this high-frequency data continues to increase, and just also caution, too, that employment data is a lagging indicator. mr. liesman did a wonderful job kind of relating the longer term in how bad the street has been in looking at employment data. i focus less on employment data and more on the services and economic data that actually has been better than everybody expected >> bottoms of stock oriented s&p 500 by the end of the first q
