brian. >>> a common discovery is linking to increased asthma in children. the doctor on why it is so tough for parents to avoid that same danger. >> what's you doing? >>reporter: like many moms, laura lee worries about how chemicals in cans and plastics could affect her 3-year-old son gavin. she takes steps to avoid one in particular, bpa. >> we try to make sure the container is bpa free. >>reporter: though banned from baby bottles and sippy cups, bpa is found in some plastic food containers and in the lining of many canned foods. the chemical can seep into food. now researchers say exposure to bpa may also increase a child's risk of asthma. >> bpa early in childhood at ages 3 and 5 and 7 was associated with increased odds of asthma at school aged between 5 and 12. >>reporter: researchers measured the bbpa levels of more than 500 pregnant women and followed their kids. by age 12 1/3 had asthma. to reduce exposure, experts say choose fresh vegetables and fruits when possible and use glass containers, especially in the microwave. dr. kathleen donahue says also avoid plastic containers with recycling numbers 3 or 7. >> it's not a guarantee, but it may have bpa. >>reporter: laura says she

and, brian, what are you learning about specifically the day of the shooting, but also what are you learning about jared leeoughner, now currently serving seven consecutive life sentences for what he did? >> we're learning a lot of riveting new detail, nugget type information about the day of the shootings, about jared lee loughner, his demeanor the day of the shootings. 2700 pages of documents released by the pima county sheriff's department today. they give the details, as far as loughner is concerned, one account is from alan foreiny, a officer from the arizona fish and game department. he describes stopping loughner at a traffic stop, just a couple of hours before the shootings. this was for running a red light. that traffic stop we did know about. but in one document, he describes loughner's behavior to a detective and fbi agent, he said he started lecturing loughner about his driving and listen to this detail, then i told him i said i'm not going to write you a citation for this and when i said that to him, his face got kind of screwed up and he started to cry. that struck me as a little odd. so i ask
