live images from the commemoration ceremony at the pentagon this hour as we are talking with brian michael jenkins questions and comments and mister jenkins, since 9/11 as you noted we haven't had another attack on the scale of 9/11. would you have believed that was possible back on september 12, 2001? >> i think it was possible but then there was extraordinary concern. clearly intelligence had failed to identify the 9/11 attacks. we had that time no idea how many more attacks were, or what the specific areas might be more in the pipeline so it was certainly a desperate time. we simply could not run the risk that, of doing nothing, of not responding immediately with every measure we possibly could to prevent a repetition of that attack. as it turned out, we were able to quickly disperse al qaeda, scatter them. reduce their capabilities. we were able to very, very quickly miles a major intelligence effort worldwide that has continued since then andthat's one of the, i think , developments that people are not entirely aware of. the us intelligence effort and the creation of alliances across the plan
