brian moore live in washington with why this meeting is so important. ng, brian. >> reporter: hi, laura. going into today's meeting president obama was unusually blunt. he said the debt ceiling shouldn't be a gun held to the heads of the american people. each side has its position staked out here but going into this meeting a little over two hours away it does look like there is some softening to the republicans especially in the controversial sticking point area of getting rid of some tax loopholes. eric cantor who walked out of the last set of talks says he will be willing to consider cutting some of those loopholes, something the republicans before called essentially a tax increase. it looks like democrats may get some of what they want, republicans are going to want cuts. president obama says he is willing to do it apparently in the hot button issues of social security and medicare. we'll find out what comes out of that later. >> thank you, brian. families are holding onto to hope that seven missing fishermen are still alive in the city of cortez. re
