brian stelter, host of reliable sources, 11:00 sundays eastern. cnn's media correspondent.ning this so far? >> i think at the moment clinton has sanders on the defensive. which is a big change because one of the narratives of this primary election season has been that sanders wants to debate and that clinton is not so hot about debating. of course she's had the lead pretty much all the time even though sanders has picked up a number of states. and so for clinton sometimes more of a risk to debate than it is for sanders. all along sanders has been call for more debate. even back when martin o'malley was in the race. but now in the past day clinton's really turned this around by coming out and listing a number of different options, dates she would like to debate sanders in new york. and sanders so far has said those are not suitable dates and proposing other ones so there is a back and forth and it goes to who has the advantage heading into this new york primary. of course then all eyes will be on new york and both campaigns notably crucial here. >> it was an interesting prop

so joining me right now, brian stelter, cnn media correspondent and host of "reliable sources."ditorial on the page prominently under the newspaper banner and then, of course, you see those words, such as "the gop must stop trump." the opening line saying, "the future of our is unamerican." how unamerican or bold is it that anyone in american would be stopped at the urging of a content in a newspaper that is supposed to be unbiased? >> yeah. in this case, it's kind of going to the extreme, isn't it? i was reading this morning, the headline "deportations will begin." this is an opinion coming from the editorial page of the boston globe which is separate from the newsroom. a lot of people don't care about the difference and it's being bashed online. i think what we're seeing here are editors in "the boston globe" where editors and producers and anchors want to make a statement and get people's attention and pay attention to what trump has been saying in his own words. that's what "the globe" says it is doing. but it's definitely been controversial. it's almost like something out o

dialen buyers and brian stelter, host of "reliable sources."osh, it's not so much ted cruz getting closer to 1237, it's ted cruz denying donald trump 1237. >> that's right. he made progress last night in denying him. let's remember it's also john kasich's strategy to deny donald trump 1237. if you were thinking about it logically, you would say that the best case scenario would be for ted cruz and kasich to work together, peel the delegates off trump and not attack each other in those states. that's not what's happening. new york, the next big state that comes up is set up in a way, if you get 50% or more of any district, you get all the delegates for that district. the game is to deny trump 50% in those districts, and there's an incentive to come in second in new york. there's a lot of reasons that kasich and cruz will continue to attack each other for the next two weeks. after the results yesterday in wisconsin, it's clear donald trump's path to 1237 is more difficult. if he comes in just under the number, he may be able to make that up at th

let's talk about this with brian stelter, the host of "reliable sources." do we know about this report that donald trump has an arsenal of secrets that he could use against roger ailes, the head of fox news? >> this is one of the biggest surprises in the story out today. he reports trump was actually the mediator in a dispute between roger ailes, the powerful head of fox news, and his former pr head. so this guy, brian lewis, was roger ailes right-hand man a number of years. when lewis was fired, he hired a lawyer and it turns out that lawyer had a connection to trump. so trump was called in to basically mediate this feud or this severance negotiation between brian lewis and the head of fox news. what's interesting is that lewis allegedly had lots of secrets he was going to spill about fox. he agreed not to because he signed a deal and he was paid and now he has no comment on this. but the idea here is that maybe trump knows what was in this deal because trump was the negotiator. it shows trump's cozy connections to media executives, like the head of fox new

. >>> cnn's senior media correspondent and host "reliable sources" brian stelter joins us now. me. what do we know about how this consortium of journalists dug into this data dump to uncover the inner workings of mossack fonseca? >> this is really remarkable. we've never seen anything quite like this in terms of the cooperation that is spanning so many different news outlets. it all started, the leak was sprung in early 2015 when this anonymous source reached out to a reporter for a newspaper based in munich, germany. now, this reporter initially was communicating with the source via secure messaging apps, and after a while the data became so -- you know, so massive, there was so much here that the newspaper reached out to this international consortium of investigative journalists, which then was able to connect with dozens of other media partners. so in total we're talking about more than 100 news outlets here, several hundred journalists who spent months looking over the documents. in fact, journalists in 25 different languages all examining the information. it is from everyth

with me now, cnn legal analyst danny cevallos and host of cnn's "reliable sources" brian stelter. so brad, thank you so much for coming on. just out of the gate -- >> thanks for having me. >> -- talk of the drafts of the apologies as we just heard in the news conference, what would your client say, i'm sorry. straight up, your child going to publicly apologize to michelle fields? >> straight up, i don't know. to be quite honest with you, michelle fields is threatening to sue over a defamation case, so we're going to see exactly where this case goes in terms of the civil aspect. the criminal aspect was very interesting because we did meet with the prosecutors. we did present additional evidence that they didn't have. and that additional evidence was the first 15 seconds of that video, where secret service is very clearly directing miss fields to a different area of the ballroom and insisting that she go to that area, which she actually does, but then when an agent turns his back, she then goes back to the area she was just told to leave from. that was just one of the many things we

senior media correspondent and host of "reliable sources" which i watch every sunday, were brian stillt stelter. if there are fireworks on stage tonight, what do you think it's going to be over? >> i think listening to this campaign, it's gotten a little bit nasty. you've bernie sanders questioning hillary clinton's judgment. her qualifications. but when you look at the topics, kind of three big areas. the iraq war, you have trade, and then you have wall reet. on the iraq war, of course, bernie sanders has continued to try to make that an issue, pointing out that hillary clinton voted for that war, that he voted against it. that he heard all of the same intelligence that hillary clinton did, and he made a better call. of course, that plays very well with democrats, that he's trying to get out that liberal base. also on trade, he found after michigan where he did very well, that was a good issue for them. he's been hitting hillary clinton, saying she endorsed these trade agreements that cost millions of americans their jobs. and so continued to hear her defend her positions there. she has said i
