also with us senior media correspondent brian stelter here in washington, and our chief political analyst gloria borger. gloria, what's your reaction to the president clearly not budging on this issue, this zero tolerance policy that his administration enacted in april that will separate children from their parents if they illegally cross into the united states? >> i think what we heard is trump digging in. that he made a few points, is that he is accusing the media of focusing on immigration because we want to get the cameras away from the testimony of the inspector general which he says clears him of collusion, et cetera, which is not true. he indicated that whatever congress gives to him, he's going to make changes because he wants what he wants. and he said, and we might as well get it right or keep it going, meaning that this detention at the border of children will continue until the president gets what he wants, which is, i think, funding for the border wall to the tune of $25 million which, as you know, is not in the senate bill. he doesn't want judges. ted cruz wants to add judge

brian stelter is here, cnn media correspondent. these are strong words from colonel peters.t really is he saying here? the fact he's also speaking out after the fact, even is amazing. >> never seen anything like this. coming out essentially as a whistle-blower attacking his former network for hurting america. that's exactly what he's doing here. this is not some liberal analyst. he was a staunch conservative on fox news. he was very critical of president obama. but ao critical of trump during the campaign and after trump was elected, peters felt there wasn't a place for him there anymore. he became convinced the network had become a propaganda machine. that's telling. that's where the term fox's most aggressive critics use to describe fox. peters is going after hannity and others who toe the trump line and try to tear down the mueller probe, peters says the mueller probe is more important than watergate, most important investigation of his lifetime. he wants to know the truth about what russia did and he feels that fox is getting in the way. >> what is fox saying about him?

brian stelter, host of "reliable sources," the judge even warned the government against filing an appeal. >> is this the final word? this is likely to be the final word. the government has not decided yet whether to appeal or whether to ask for a delay of the ruling while it works on an appeal. those kinds of moves are common, but yes, the judge in this case discouraged the government from doing so because the process has already taken 600 days and cost an enormous amount of money. a benefit, the lawyers from all sides who racked up a lot of fees. other than that, this has dragged on for a long time and it doesn't appear to ber unless there's that appeal. even if the government does appeal and there's not a stay, and at&t wtill take over time war next week. that means, cnn, this cha and other channels will be owned by at&t, and not a lot of changes for consumers and in the long term, maybe some improvement to service and products. >> does this open the door for many more mergers like this? it defoes and it's a domino effect. ths is the first domino that lots of other companies were waiti

joining me now, brian stelter.turner and time warner under pressure from advertisers. >> sometimes it happens in these cases you have other advertisers that call up and say, get me away from her show. those boycotts don't usually last long. we'll see what happens in the case. we'll see if there is a snowball effect. there is no indication that tbs is walking away from her show "full frontal." her apology, that was yesterday's announcement. i don't expect anything more from the network. it is notable the president is saying why hasn't she been fired? he's trying to draw an equivalent between barr and bee, two very different cases. they're both examples of celebrities who should know bet, lowering the bar rather than raising the bar in the culture. it will be interesting to see if she says more about this on her show next week. >> i had a lot of conversations with folks who say here is the difference. if that's a similarity, here is the difference. you have a woman making a sexist remark about another woman. a whi yo
