cnn's brian todd is tracking the story for us. ian, we're finally getting a firsthand account of this truly terrible attack. >> kanon who was wounded in the attack has accounting of how the shooter targeted them, and at one point he thought his two friends were dead. . for the first time a victim of saturday's shooting in burlington, vermont, revealing a horrifying time line. one of three palestinian college students who were wounded tells cnn in a telephone interview that as they were walking close to the suspect's house, they saw him on his porch, first looking away from them. >> and he turns around, looks at us, and without saying a word, almost surreal, just went down the steps, pulled out a pistol, and shot my friend. i heard the thud on the ground, and then he started screaming. >> abdul hamid said a split second later, the suspect shot his other friend and he heard another thud on the ground. he took off running, drew a diagram for police, showing that he ran to two different houses for help. at that point, he thought his tw

brian todd, cnn. >> thank you very much for that. four children were among the first group of hostages released yesterday. ahead of these releases, israel's welfare ministry issued guidelines for those who will be dealing with the kids who are freed. let's talk about some of that with dr. rebecca barry, a child psychologist. even if a child checks out as physically okay, what are the psychological red flags that experts will be looking for in these children? >> well, i think that it's important to understand that these individuals, these survivors have been through a lot, and oftentimes we might not be able to determine the psychological impact or emotional impact of such severe or traumatic circumstances in the initial readjustment or re-entry back into their everyday lives. it can often take some time to demonstrate maladaptive effects of their experiences. some of the core things we might be looking for, of course, are any changes to their biological rhythms, severe disruptions in sleep, nightmares, or even changes in their mood,

brian todd is joining us live from the smithsonian's national zoo. so what's the latest, brian?reporter: wolf, at this hour, the three giant pandas from the national zoo are in the middle of their long flight to china. a bittersweet day for zoogoers, zookeepers and pandas themselves. a giant panda peers through the window of its crate looking about as sad as we are to see them go. two adult pandas and their 3-year-old cup are headed to china, leaving the national zoo in washington, d.c. without any pandas. >> the question i have been asked most in the past few weeks is, are you sad. and the answer is a very simple yes. >> reporter: it was such a sad scene at the national zoo today that the zookeepers had the look of pallbearers as they walked alongside the pandas' crates. one zookeeper kept her hand by the crate. the loss felt by zoogoers as well. >> we have a little one now, and so we were hoping to let him see the pandas. he won't remember it but we would. >> reporter: with the liftoff of a fedex cargo jet and a 19-hour flight to china, an odyssey ends after 51 years of pandas

brian todd has background on the judge, and charged with determining trump's faith in this one case.judge arthur engoron might be hard-pressed to name a defendant in any of his cases who has been as contentious with him as donald trump, even prior to trump's testimony on the stand monday. during the civil trial, judge engoron called trump to the stand in rebuke finding him $10,000 for public comments that the judge perceived as attacks on his clerk. >> that is a very partisan charged with a person who's very partisan sitting alongside, perhaps even much more partisan than he has. >> trump and his lawyers claim trump was speaking about trump's former attorney michael cohen, and not about the clerk. the judge had previously fined him $5,000 for a social media post attacking the clerk. on friday, the judge expanded a gag order against trump. back in 2022 he find trump $110,000 for being in contempt of court, writing that trump, quote, willfully disobeyed that order to provide documents by a certain time. >> how contentious is this between the judge and defendant compared to other cases?
