brian williams even got to go into the situation room take a look. we are one floor below ground level here in the west wing of the white house and we are about to take television news cameras inside the white house situation room for the first time in its history we're here tonight entering this room to talk about this photograph taken in this room a year ago. now brian williams again not enough actually if you ask me but some people out there that happy to do a lot of media critique like lead read while those people are giving him a lot of credit for it right because we sure audiences like that let me give you an inside look and open the door in the situation room and it's very cool but how about asking some of the tough questions as in live there have been so many different accounts right so many different stories when it comes to exactly what happened in the raid why are you fighting putting out the videos or the photos to the public. i mean i think that this coming on the heels of the white house correspondents' dinner weekend where there is the

brian williams is the anchor and managing editor of nbc nightly news. this for you and the entire team from nbc news was really an extranarily exploration of a moment in history. tell me about going into the situation room and having that access, first of all. >> well, andrea thank you. there becomes that moment where you cross the threshold and realize you are taking cameras into a place that has never allowed them before. what happened here is, nbc news made the request to the white house. we wanted to deconstruct more than reconstruct what happened the night of the raid. we wanted to talk to everyone in that will iconic photo shot by the white house photographer pete souza, and there you see in the small briefing room off the main situation room the walls lined with suede for sound absorption. we asked the president to stand in the very corner where he sat in front of him is the small folding chair where he sat as the raid unfolded. he was sitting next to a one-star air force general. and we talked to the entire leadership of government, everyone who

. >> let's go to brian williams in athens is following talks. what does this mean? coalition talks now effectively dead? >> well, there is one of the row of the guys left. the meeting that you mentioned the president is calling for all of the seven party leaders who have made it into parliament. that will be held probably on monday, and there'll be two days of talks there to see if he can bang their heads together and somehow get some coalition out of them. but i think in the view of most people, that is going to be a step too far again. the most likely scenario is that on june 17, greece will be voting yet again in an election. >> the signal the financial markets are getting from greek voters is that one out of the euro, but polls show that they want to stay in. >> well, i think it is the contradiction everybody is asking about. they want to stay in the euro but they do not want to pay a price for that. time and time again, it seems that the greeks the first with their hearts and then they start to use their heads. and then maybe they will come to a decision that w

we joined our correspondent live, brian williams, on the line from athens.he mood is somewhat optimistic that evangelos venizelos and the pasok will succeed in creating a new government. do you think he can be successful are you doing so? >> well, that miracles can happen. frankly, the two parties we're talking about -- [inaudible] it would require a remarkable change of mind at this late stage by the two biggest parties for any coalition. >> there is support from a new poll out, showing that the anti- bailout left is leading in public opinion right now. how is that weighing on the coalition talks at this hour, do you think? >> i think the general mood is, yes, a lot of people were thinking that the two main parties, pasok and the conservatives, would come back strongly. i do not see any sign of that at the moment. one of the decisive things will be, if we do go to new elections, the turnout for the election just concluded was a very small. only 16%. 30% of people are more likely to vote in the second election, and that could be very decisive. >> germany and

i am joined by our correspondent brian williams on the line from athens.says he is abandoning his didn't -- it tends to form a cabinet. where do we go from here? >> i imagine it will be picked up by the leader of the socialist party which won the last election in 2009. they literally are the third party, and they are the last party that will try to get to a coalition. but frankly, with both the leading party and the latest election and the second party both far, far apart, there seems little hope that pasok will be able to bring them together. >> and that will lead to fresh elections. >> that is the one last throw of the dice after pasok has its try. there will be a meeting of all the party leaders for one last effort to get them to agree. there's little hope of that happening. we seem as though we are inevitably going to have new elections on june 10 or june 17. >> is anyone in the country warning of the consequences again of abandoning austerity and the country basically turning its back on brussels and the imf? >> i think that is one of the things that

for more, we're joined by brian williams in athens.k to me about this talk of a run on the banks in greece. is that what we're seeing right now? >> well, there is anxiety. there is nervousness. you can hardly have a conversation in greece now without somebody asking you for advice on whether to keep money in greece or send it overseas or put it under the mattress. but i do not think that anybody has said the actual panic button yet. i did my own in fall more -- informal survey, and there's no sign of kew said banks, no sign of people lining up to pull out money. obviously, some people are doing it. it is happening. but not at the panic stage. >> is the election next month -- is that being talked about as a referendum on the euro? will the greeks go to the polls to decide between the euro or the drachma? >> that is very much however buddies talking about this election. in the last election, the 19 days ago, there was a very low turnout. only 60%. people are forecasting that this time there will be about an 80% turnout, which is the more

tonight, brian williams sits down in the key players of the situation room. fascinating accounts of the historic raid tonight at 9:00. police responding to three different shootings after a violent night in baltimore. two people were shot on a frederick avenue in southwest baltimore. one victim was treated for a graze wound. police have made an arrest in the shooting. police were called to the scene of another shooting of piedmont avenue. the victim was shot multiple times and is in critical condition. the third shooting brought investigators to south hanover street in brooklyn. that victim is listed in critical condition. a woman is recovering from multiple stab wounds, allegedly attacked by her own son. they got into an argument at their home in westminster. the mother had to be flown to shock trauma for treatment. >> two people accused in the shooting death of a baltimore girl took a plea deal. the girl was found in an alley near belair road. police have described the shooting as an accidental. one- person pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. a 12-y
