that's brianna playing for pop star spordin sparks to raise money for miami children's hospital. in the past year, this eight-year-old has performed at nearly a dozen charity events from florida to nevada, helping to raise more than $5 million. >> she has said before that she thinks music comes from the soul and it can make the world a better place, and she really believes that. >> reporter: so when brianna learned the massive earthquake in haiti brought down a music school and crushed ramle joseph, a violinist just like her, she wanted to help. >> because i was so sad that h he-- that he got so hurt, and then his beautiful music school actually collapsed on him. for 18 hours he was stuck in there. >> reporter: brianna started writing letters to famous violinists asking for money to rebuild the school and instruments to fill it, and she made the first donation herself. >> this is one of my first violins, and i wanted to donate it to you now. >> oh, thank you. >> reporter: handing over her old violin. >> i want to bring music back to haiti and i want to have mr. joseph's school re

. >> reporter: meanwhile his 10-year-old sister brianna ran for help. >> i looked in the retention pond and saw a head bobbing in the water. >> reporter: brianna's desperate door to door attempt to find help paid off. >> i said make a motion with your hands like this. which he did. when he did so it began to propel him through the water. once he made it to shore i reached my hand out and pulled him out. >> reporter: fire and rescue officials say recent cold temperatures have frozen area ponds and rivers but looks can be deceiving. they are warning people to stay off the ice so they don't end up like brandon and buster. >> it could have been tragically worse. thankfully through the grace of god he is still with us. dog is fine. son is fine. and quick thinking sister and excellent, excellent, great neighbors. >>> brandon was in the hospital for about six hours. he is doing just fine. buster shaken up but he is doing fine now as well. from that dog to a cat in northern virginia named second chance. and, of course, there is a good reason he's got that name. the little guy was found nearly b

brianna keilar is watching this because it is having an impact as far as the effort to get financial or wall street reform. what are you hearing? >> well, wolf, as you know, yesterday there was this failed vote on moving forward with this wall street reform bill. again, a failed vote today. and i got to tell you, wolf, we're probably going to see the same thing tomorrow assuming we don't see any breakthrough on the behind the scene negotiations between democrats and republicans. what you have is democrats trying to exert pressure on republicans. republicans scheduling these votes and then when republicans vote no, saying, oh, look, they're aligned with wall street. i spoke, though, with a number of moderate republicans that ultimately democrats hope will come over and help them pass this wall street reform bill and they say, wolf, it is a very counterproductive strategy. >> it looks like the democratic leadership, they'll schedule one of these votes every single day knowing that the outcome will be the same to try to embarrass the republicans. >> the irony is this isn't like health c
