the gunshots rang out east -- early this morning in brianne carter is following this story. >> according to all reports this started in the cafeteria about 7:30 this morning and five students were shot and according to law enforcement, a teacher chased the shooter outside the building preventing the number from climbing higher. the shooter is now in custody and authorities are trying to figure out what led to all of this. a frightening and chaotic start to the school day in chardon, co ohio. >> i heard shots fired in the cafeteria and a cut was firecrackers. >> the school was put on lockdown and the swat teams and the fbi moved in. >> they went to the school and located victims. >> the five victims were found in three different locations inside the school. three were airlifted to the hospital and two others were taken by ambulance. frantic parents rushed to the school. >> she tested me and said there had been a shooting and i am in a closet but don't worry. i said to keep texting me. once the lockdown was lifted, students were evacuated to an elementary school. >> we are taking five pare
