this is a side road from the bridgeport port in jefferson ferry terminal. getting all snow covered. this is just the beginning. this is not the end. there's a state of emergency here for port jefferson. this village, which is a residential community here on long island in suffolk county. we just spoke with the mayor and is he she's with this state of emergency we're asking everybody to stay off the roadways but right now people are still on the roadways likely trying to get home. she says people are going to have to go to the grocery store and get what they need but most importantly when you're home stay home. the long island railroad about a mile up here on main street here in port jefferson to the left, about 26 extra trains are going to be leaving from new york city all the way to come out here. then service will stop at 11:00 tonight. if we look at tomorrow looked on the website, they say we're going to have engineers -- extra engineers on hand to make sure the switchers that control the tracks are still heated that they are not sticking and good to go.

from areas down in the southeast, danbury, bridgeport southwest, pardon me.r the blizzard warning, much like new york city where the warning for the blizzard has lifted. but you can see the snow is really coming down. every once in a while. check that out. look at that. i don't know if you can see that wind alisyn but the gusts, we're measuring wind gusts, the weather service is measuring about 45-mile-per-hour gusts. when it's not windy, it's actually very calm and peaceful and the snow is just falling. around 3:00 a.m. the national weather service said that there was about eight inches of snow falling. we were out here around 4:30 a.m. and it sure felt more than just the eight inches. you have to remember the wind is pushing all of the snow into drifts you can see good evidence around the pillar there's a lot of snow on the ground. some of it is moving because of the wind. but it continues and it's not stopped snowing. we're in the thick of it they're expecting it throughout the day. they're expecting the blizzard warning to last throughout the day today. s
