i recently spent two days at a care home in dorset, harbour house in west bay in bridgeport, and we wents and got a sense of the day—to—day pressures going on. any of the residents paid for themselves and they sold their homes to move on. with people living longer money ru ns on. with people living longer money runs out and the council has to pick up runs out and the council has to pick up the bill. what was really clear is that people were tired of the uncertainty in this area. some people feel worried about how long they are going to live and whether they can afford to stay here. i think it is entirely dependent on whether you can pay or whether you can't, which is wrong. it is still on the back of your mind when in five years' time i will be really struggling. it makes me think about the future and this whole thing of social funding. how we are going to pay for it. it is a very tricky balance i suppose between needing support and the cost of it. and i suppose if we have a society that thinks that looking after its people is very important, then it comes to very near the top of the l
