a a a to stop hate against the aapi community, single thread farms and a marketing specialist, bridget changw. thanks for spending part of your afternoon with us. you are organizing a dinner series to raise awareness and fun. had too come up with this as a concept, and how does it work? for, what you start us out? >> the series actually started out in d.c. where to of our colleagues -- they actually reached out to us through a network of friends and through the industry. we decided we wanted to help our community in the area. so andrew and i have been working together, rallying behind a couple chefs in the san francisco bay area and organizing in the month of may. >> so, andrew, what's the goal? >> so i think the goals are -- there are multiple tiers to that. the first one is most important goals are raising awareness about the escalation and the aap i hate crimes. it is also about raising awareness of biases that we all have in our day-to-day interactions. you know, at the end of the day, it is also really a celebration of all these cultures coming together and crating a potluck style meal.

change that we want. >> that message that you hear from bridget is something that i have heard from people attending this event, and i spoke a man that said the conviction of chauvin was a relief for us, and he said we want the urgency to be clear for the political leaders, not just here in minnesota, not just here in minneapolis but across the country, and that's the message you are seeing and that's why you have the george floyd family marking this day in washington, d.c. >> over to you at the white house, monica. we both know based on our reporting that the white house for the last few weeks had been trying to figure out how they were going to try and mark the day and ultimately they decided to have the private sit-down between president biden and members of the floyd family, and president biden taped a message, and his first visit from his home during the pandemic was to floyd's family, members of his family in texas, and he talked by phone with the floyd family during the chauvin trial. give us a sense of what we expect to see later from the white house today and how they are marking this moment? >>

with me about this right now bridget what what's in the wise new senate resolution how far does this all go. state senate concurrent resolution $44.00 declares that climate change is a threat to the environment and humans and requests state wide cooperation in addressing the adverse effects of climate change including rising sea levels and the global temperature coastal erosion and protecting critical infrastructure while the resolution is largely symbolic it also calls on hawaii's government to prohibit private investment and public subsidies in projects that exacerbate climate change like coal oil gas or tree burning it also calls on the government to promote policies and infrastructure to replace fossil fuels with solar wind or battery storage by 2030 the state is taking action based on global scientific evidence and its own climate problems yeah it's a non-binding resolution but at least they're doing something to get out there and say we're paying attention to it our beaches are roading we have sea levels that are rising our infrastructure is at risk and we have to do something even though the feds are doing what they need to do we need to do something on

change in the last year or frustrated with the rate of progress? >> reporter: you see both of those sentiments co-existing here. i spoke to bridget floyd who is the sister of george floyd who was on stage and led that moment of silence she said the reason she's not in washington, d.c. with the rest -- from the outside. she said i'll go to d.c. happily, when that george floyd justice and policing act is signed by president biden. she wanted to keep the pressure on president bide ton get that legislation passed. and to get the pressure on congress to do what they can to get that legislation passed. you also hear the frustration of people here at the celebration of george floyd's life. that was the question i asked one of the people here. whether or not the change they've been seeing. in minneapolis, there's been police reform at the local level. the department has instituted changes. you've seen the state legislature pass changes back in last july. i asked someone here was that enough. listen to a little of that conversation. you hear folks highlighting changes that we've seen since george floyd was murdered a year ago? are you sat
