this is the news this friday afternoon, i am britt moreno. it started in denver but ended cbs 4 jamie leary is at 20th and i-25 where this began. tell us about it? >>reporter: this is the area where the incident unfolded. they believe it may have been a case of road rage, the uber driver said the suspect started shooting at him for no apparent reason. they did not vehicle but that uber driver dead. his back window was shattered from the gunfire and he followed the car and said he tried to keep up at the suspects were throwing things out of their window to keep from following and grabbing whatever they could including children's toys. he could not keep up and they reach speeds of 130 mph. once the suspect hit northglenn police there pursued them. state patrol deployed stop sticks just north of colorado the chase to an end. denver police said that 2 people were taken into custody from the vehicle. a fedex driver became the unintended target of the stop sticks as well. he watched 2 people, a man and woman taken into custody without instead -- in

. >> and i'm britt moreno. >>> a kwat hits the mountains in italy. 36 people confirmed dead. much more in just a moment. >> they're trying to get to people in a small village. first we want to talk about the weather here in colorado as you get your day started. >>> it's a beautiful morning in denver. temperatures aren't bad. there's rain in the area and we are looking at showers possible throughout the day today. radar. rainy in the eastern plains and parts of the foothills. let's zoom to the denver area first. a few sprinkles near bennett and brekenridge, there's snow above 12,000 feet now. also some light rain in the area and a little bit of ice along i-25 heading north. not a lot hitting the ground but a better chance into the morning hours. some r i-70 and down in the san juans there's snow. temperatures this morning are mild. 64 in denver. 63 in limon. 70 in boulder. high country 48, 63 in grand junction. showers on and off throughout the morning hours and we have a break this afternoon and we could get more rain coming back late afternoon and evening kly and much cooler

i'm britt moreno, this is the top story today, for the next 15 months, denver will make a change to a stretch of broadway virginia on the south. a bike lane is being installed on the left lane to see it if will reduce bike accidents. it runs for about a half mile here on that stretch of south broadway. cbs 4 is on broadway for us this afternoon. and jamie, this change also involves moving parking. can you explain this for us? >> reporter: it's going to take a little bit of getting used to. i think that's one of the points of contention. they moved parking from right here, just to the outside of so you're going to have to be cognizant of bikers coming by in both of these lanes where you pay the parking meter. a couple other features were the new traffic signals for bikers, coordinated with the intersection lights. then all along this study here, they have some green striping to warn bikers of things like entrances to parking lots and maybe some hidden driveways. >> i love it. it's easy to get around. broadway's a hassle. but there's a lot to do. you have to sneak behind the neighborhoo
